Description Doctor Who the Mind Robber. One of (if not) my favorite Patrick Troughton episodes.

Patrick's son Michael is currently writing a book about his dad.

It's a great story. Patrick's son, Michael is writing biography about him. It comes out in November.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check it out as Pat is probably my favorite Doctor.

I loved this episode! You did a great job at capturing them and the whole montage of pictures works really well together. (And the detailing of the sparkly catsuit is fantastic.)

Oh, awesome. A fitting tribute to what is possibly my favourite black-and-white era serial ever. It's in my top five anyway, definitely.

...Notorious

though i thoroughly love the fourth doctor, there needs to be more of others as well! six doesn't even have one episode (although the number of episodes IS based on popularity, so, um bummer for colin baker )

Well, Colin never really got a fair shake in my opinion. Have you ever listened to any of the Big Finish Audios? Great stuff with Doctors 5-8. Now Tom Baker's doing them as well.

Really brilliant.

This is really very good, and is much more bold and striking than the colour version (of course the colour version is still nice!), but there's something to this that the colour one misses out on.

Thank you. Paul thought, and I agree with him that its due to not being colored. But most second Doctor stuff was black and white.

That's really rather excellent!

And you've done a good job of including all the main plot points without it looking cluttered.
I'm a stuck-in-the-mud old fuddy-duddy and prefer this to the colour version - it's how the tv show is seen and this brings it to mind in all its monochromatic splendour. Go Karkus!!

Thanks, Paul. I did this a few years back and just realized I'd never posted the line art. I hadn't thought it in that context. Although I do remember whilst doing the color that it felt...I dunno. Off somehow.

I'm not one of those people who can't appreciate b/w line art. Here in good ol' Blighty, when I was a kid colour comics were very few and far beween. It's what I grew up on, and I love it

HeH! the first time I saw Alan Moore's Marvelman it was black and white. I used have stacks of UK mags.

fresian-cat In reply to ShawnVanBriesen [2011-05-31 18:35:44 +0000 UTC]

The early UK mags were the dog's wotsits. Dave Gibbons, John Lloyd, Steve Dillon, so many other good artists. And Warrior mag, Hammer, Doctor Who, 2000AD. I'm getting nostalgic

Oh, yes, he was there too. They were halcyon days, and I think the guys back then helped shaped the comics today, I really do. Wonderful times

I agree. Those books changed things dramatically. The BBC is doing the same to narrative television right now. Most of the television shows in the US are complete crap. Then they take a BBC show (Skins, Being Human come to mind) and try it here and they fail miserably. I think in the end the passion and talent will stand out.

Thanks for not picking up on John Lloyd, I of course meant David Lloyd. Grr.

I know what you mean about the remakes - why bother?? It's the same here tho when they remake US shows. What is the point of redoing it, unless you think it was rubbish, and then you wouldn't have the ratings to make it popular enough to warrant a remake.
My head hurts now :/

At some point Bea Arthur did an American version of Fawlty Towers (sans Basil?). I think it was on for about 15 minutes before getting canceled.

You know what else was really, really awful? It was the US version of Life on Mars. I still shudder when I think about how they ended that show.

I've Paul saying how truly awful it was, but I know hardly anything about it. I can't believe they could change the end tho?? Would the program still WORK? What were the differences between 'ours' and 'yours'?

ShawnVanBriesen In reply to fresian-cat [2011-06-02 11:41:33 +0000 UTC]

They literally went to Mars. No coma. Nothing really except a space trip gone awry. Other than that it was recycled episodes of the original not done as well. Just awful.

I know, right. Sam's trip to the 1970's was deep space suspended animation thing on his way to Mars. And Gene was actually his real dad. The rest of the cast were the crew members on the space ship.

It was. I had already seen the UK version. Figured I would give it try. Stopped watching pretty early and then watched the last episode just to see what they did. Let me tell you -Harvey Keitel is no Phil Glenister.
