I quite like how this came out, except for the highlights on Mudkip's face. My first pixel icon/thing? Not including sprites.Feel free to CC, I'd like to improve at this kind of thing.
I own the art, but I don't own Mudkip.

the shading on the face and legs is very well done, i especially like to highlits on the cheeks. the pose is very genaric, but it is very well executed. The expression is warm and invites people to leave nice comments.
the shading might have looked better if you have several tones instead of only one, in several places like the legs and the head.
over all i think that you did a very nice job with the composition as a whole, although several things could be improved on.
i am in no way anywhere near this good but i hope you still value my opinion ^-^

Thank you for the critique! I agree with what you're saying about the shading, one version did have highlights on the head but I eventually removed that because it didn't seem right (in my opinion). Hopefully that's something I can improve on my second time trying pixel arts like this ^^

That's true- I've seen a lot of times where someone has given an honest and fair critique, but the artist blows up in their face or denies the faults. I like to be able to improve from what people can point out ^^

Because I dont have a Premium membership, I critique like this:
I really like the shading on the orange thingies and on the fin-thing on the head.
The head seems to be too rectangular so it sorta looks strange to me.
I like how the back "tail" was made, making a curve on the bottom and then goes up and makes a sharp turn downward
I feel like I have seen this pose a 1000 times, standing normally and smiling.
Lastly I like how you incorporated the airbrush tool in your shading.

This is a more generic pose, hopefully other pixels that I do won't be as cliche...
To be honest though, I just used the pencil tool, I don't even know how to use the airbrush in elements. o3o
