After the finale, seeing Dash in the war with Sombra made my head-canon sense start tingling.
Since the world was plunged in to war, does that mean that no pony is able to find their special talent?
Were all the ponies forced to give up on any and all the dreams that they had because of the war?
Did all of the ponies forget what it was like to be happy? To have a bright and colorful future?
This led me to think that Dash, who's entire life's dream was to become the fastest flier and join the Wonderbolts, would basically believe that she doesn't have much of a purpose in the world anymore. But she only keeps on because of the small possibility of a brighter future at the inevitable end of the war and for the benefits of all of ponydom.
So yeah. I tried to make this one sorta "feels-y." Dunno if I actually succeeded in that or not, but yeah.
I drew this in my sketchbook. Instead of completely doing it with pens, I only used pens for the outline and shaded it with a pencil. Then, just cause, I played around with the brightness/ contrast settings in Sai and ended up making it look like this, so this is the version I'm going with.

I think that Sombra War universe's Rainbow would be determined to lead the ponies to victory, but wouldn't think much about what would come if they actually won the war . I don't see her getting philosophical (kinda) like you portrayed her.

Funny. When Twilight and Spike were teleported into what I think it's the Everfree Forest, where the ponies were trying to hide from Chrysalis, if you look closely into Pinkie and Fluttershy's flank, you can see their cutiemarks. Then at that point I got pretty confused as to why they have them. Maybe it was an animation error? Maybe it wasn't?

Probably the animators were too lazy to actually change them and decided it was not worth do design them if they were only to get less than a minute screentime, and weren't actually that important for the plot.
OR, they were trying to tell us that a pony's talent is predestined and that the pony would earn their Cutie Mark one way or another.

I believe that they all find their special talent but in diferent circunstances, that's why they are not friends in this worlds, then the war came and the world became a hell on earth. I'm noticing that Rainbow is the hero in all the fanfics that are appearing that deal with the war and it's natural because we saw how awesome she was in it.
