    You set your shifty eyes around the table, holding your cards up close to your face to conceal them from the others as you glanced at all their faces. Jozu tsk’ed and narrowed his eyes, Thatch held back a curse word, Ace kept neutral, and Marco held a small smirk of possible victory on his face. You noticed this, but his smirk wasn’t near as wide as the one you harboured behind your fan of cards. Everyone was exchanging glances now, and a mutual nod was exchanged, some being regretful, and some being prideful. With a flick of the cards, one by one in clockwise rotation around the table, each division commander lied down their cards and said their total of the numbers on each.

    “Nineteen.” Ace said.

  “Seventeen.” Jozu sighed.

    “I broke…” Thatch growled.

    “Twenty.” Marco chimed, making his smirk visible across the circular table.

    Seeing his confidence, you inhaled, removed your cards from your face, and spread them down on the table with a purposeful snap, showing your wide grin as you laced your fingers together and rested your chin on the bridge they created.

    “Twenty one” You said smoothly with a sassy tone, raising your brows in victory.

    “Come on!” Everyone groaned, either slamming their heads onto the table, or leaning off the backs of their chairs while rolling their eyes in an exasperated manner.

    “I win again boys~!” You sang.

    “How?! How do you manage to win at blackjack every single fucking time?!” Marco asked with an annoyed tone. “I thought I had you this time!”

    “I guess it’s just my… lucky card~!” You chimed, picking up a card from the fan you put down and flashing it around between your right middle and index fingers. It was an ace of spades.

    “You’ve had that card in your hand four times! How the fuck?!” Thatch yelled.

    “I dunno. I guess the ace just really loves me~!” You hummed, looking over the card in your fingers casually.

    Jozu snorted and took a glance at Ace to your left, and he in return gave a sheepish grin and a shrug of his shoulders.

    “What’s so funny, eh Jozu?” You asked, leaning on an elbow towards him on the table, catching his snort.

    “Nothing, nothing!” He snickered, clearing his throat and folding his arms on the table innocently.

    “Mm hmm. You just keep saying that Jozu. I’ll find you out one day.” You said with a shake of a finger. “Anyway, who’s up for another round?” You asked, putting your card back down.

    The commanders eyed you skeptically, glancing at each other before looking back at you.

    “Oh come on! Don’t be such sore losers! I don’t cheat! Here, I’ll even let Thatch shuffle this time, since he broke last turn anyway.” You grinned, gathering the nearest cards and tossing them across the table at him. “Go ahead Thatchy-boy. We’re all waiting on your fated shuffle~!”

    “_______ watch it.” Thatch growled, preparing to swiftly hurl a card in your direction if he had to.

    “Oops, sorry~!” You giggled, holding your hands up in defense.

    There were a couple chuckles that went around the table before Thatch shook his head and gathered the rest of the cards to shuffle. When he shuffled, he shuffled well too. Thatch used around three or four different shuffling methods, just to make sure you wouldn’t get that darned ace of spades like the last five turns.

    “What, are we playing fifty two pick up or what?” You inquired, watching him flip through the cards furiously.

    He growled in response, not tearing his vision from the deck as he went on shuffling.

    Marco leaned over from your right and let out an airy chuckle. “If you keep up the comments, I could easily bet a million beli that bastard would slice you up with each and every card in that deck, in order of suit, leaving jokers for last.” He commented.

    “Probably. I mean, look at him go. I think he might just burst if he breaks twenty one again!” You whispered back, giggling at the thought.

    The two of you leaned back into proper sitting position when you heard the cards get hit on the table a few times to straighten them out. You brought your posture to perfection, cleared your throat, and wore a fake innocent smile as Thatch prepared to deal, keeping his eyes on you the entire time. You gave him a little wave and a smile just to mess with him a bit as he went. And with that, the next short round started with individual deals as focus returned to the slowly building numbers in everyone’s hand.

  Your first card passes, and it’s a seven. A bit of a shitty start, if you had to say so yourself, but, you kept calm and waited for the next. This one was a three. Oh boy. Thatch’s deal was doing his silent wish of hindering you victory indeed. Third card came. It was a face card. You inhaled and hitched your breathing at the cards worth twenty in your hand. You did your usual skeptical look around the table to see the others expressions. It looked like Thatch was having a ball with his cards, and the others looked confident in their hand as well. As one more card went around, no one took it, except for Marco, and after a look at your hand, you as well. With crossed fingers and your previous luck in mind, you accepted one more card for your hand

    Flipping it over and sliding it into the rest of your cards, you bite your lips hard to contain the most victorious squeal ever, holding your cards up to your face so no one could see your expression clearly. You had an ace of spades in your deck, leaving you with a perfect twenty one.

    Ace looked to his right over at you, and seen a side view of your furious lip biting.

    “Oi _______, you look happy. Did you get another ace in your deck?” He asked in a whisper, leaning over to speak.

    “Mmmmmmaybe…” You whispered back, a slight squeak in your voice.

    He chuckled and leaned back into his chair, and the mutual nod to set your cards down was made. Ace was the one to begin.

    “Twenty.” Ace smirked.

    “Twenty.” Jozu announced.

    “Twenty.” Thatch said.

    “Twenty…” Marco added.

    The boys turned to you, dumbfounded by everyone having twenties. You grinned, giggled slightly, and put your cards down at the fateful moment again.

    “Twenty one.” You said with a cheeky grin.

    “I’M DONE.” Thatch flips, throwing his cards into the air and standing up abruptly, sending his chair tipping backwards into the floor as he backed out of the room, flipping everyone and everything off.

    The others shake their heads and sigh, some with smiles, and some with frowns of defeat. Even so, everyone let out a dry chuckle at the situation, and you, burst out laughing victoriously, picking up the ace that lay in the middle of your hand, and kissing it.

    “This really is my true card! My perfect, beautiful, lucky ace of spades~!” You sang, looking over the card again.

    “That thing is attached to you.” Jozu noted.

    “Tell me about it~!” You agreed, kissing the card again.

    “Oi, that isn’t very fair _______.” Ace piped up, turning to you.

    “Excuse me sir? Are implying I’m cheating?” You questioned, dropping a deadpan stare in his direction.

    “No, as a matter of fact, I’m not.” He said, flicking the card from your fingers. “I’m wondering what that card has over me _______.”

    “What that card has over…” You started to say slowly.

    “I think you should reconsider your cards _______, and replace that ace, with this one.” He said with a smirk, pointing to himself. “I mean, you could win a lot more games with this card in your hands, and wouldn’t it be much nicer to kiss these sweet lips instead of laminated paper~?”

    Your face began to turn red and your jaw hung open at his words.

    Marco and Jozu begin to snicker and work their way around the table to the exit of the room, both of them mumbling about how Ace finally made his first move. You glanced at them and shot them a glare that questioned as to how they were supporting this in such a weird way.

    “Boys, that’s rude.” Ace said with a straight smile, not turning his line of sight from you. With a flick of his fingers, he sent a hot breeze across the table, picking up the cards and sending them flying at Marco and Jozu, nearly cutting them and scaring them into dashing outside the room.

    “Well _______? Would you consider replacing your card?” He asked, still never tearing his eyes from yours.

    Your face set ablaze with blush, you swallowed and stared hard into his eyes. “S-sure. Sound’s good to me, Ace…” You replied nervously, not expecting a simple game of blackjack to come to this.

    He chuckled. “Now that’s something I like to hear~.” He said smoothly, taking his hand and gently cupping your cheek, leaning in from his chair and meeting you in a sweet and warm kiss.

    Of course, your face was set on fire via blush. You thought back on your statement where the ace really loves you, and put together that it applied to a little more than just the card being in your hand. Looks like this one did too, and was far softer to kiss in victory too. The hand that held your cheek was warm, and sent a sweet feeling through your body as he kissed you. Done with hesitating, you leaned forward, bringing your chair with you a bit to lean yourself into him more as you took a hand and put it around his neck.

    Hesitantly, both of you pulled back after a few more seconds to catch a breath, and he smiled at you with a cocky, but sweet smile.

    “Better than that other card, am I right?”

    “Right.” You nodded with a small smile, looking down a bit.

    “I’m glad you agree. You’ll have so much better luck with me~!” He added, giving you a quick peck on the nose.
