I hate to keep having this argument but there's a lot of examples of homosexual behaviour in nature, including in domestic cats, and that doesn't matter anyway because the cats in the series are heavilly anthropomorphisized. They have organized political and religious sistems so I don't see why they can't be gay too

Just letting you know, tomcats do not go into heat. Being in heat is actually what your period is. It happens when an egg (or more depending on species) is released, and the female will have the urge to fertilize it and will bleed. Yes, cats also bleed. Toms obviously do not have sexual reproduction systems like a females, and will be ready to mate at any point in time, and do fuck frequently, known to mount even more than dogs in some cases.
Also, this is a highly anthropomorphized series. Even if it wasn't, there have been multiple studies about homosexual behavior, and Roy and Silo specifically have separated, but have not entered relationships with female penguins, so it is to be assumed that they aren't attracted to them.
And being gay has nothing to do with innocence. Animals recognize sex as a need, and many species even see it as a desire. Ducks are infamous for their rapist tendencies, which has led to females developing corkscrew lady parts to prevent the males from fertilizing her eggs without her will. And males have developed barbs to scrape away competing sperm (like cats), but ducks also enter monogomous relationships. So no, animals aren't innocent. RAPE is the act of forced penetration or being forced to penetrate someone.
SEXUAL ASSAULT is to do unwanted fondling, oral sex (depends on where you are that could be rape), attempting rape (which does include ripping off clothes if the victim has any), or actually doing it. It is a much broader charge.
