Description
I have seen some years back about a guy in London, suffering from autism. He is said to have photographic memory via autism. And really, he will draw existing cities from memory with astonishing accuracy, although not 100%. Even though not realistic like photos. But undoubtedly what he is doing we cannot do.In this sense, if we have to described photographic memory, then it will be about abnormal level of accuracy in drawing about a place we saw. Scientists do not fully understand what is photographic memory. Afterall, they are like us: normal people in the sense of not possessing it.
But there is an interesting question: is it possible to train and acquire photographic memory, for example from childhood, thus even not suffering from autism? Well, I do not know any place in the world where this type of training is done....Or how it is to be done, ifever possible.
What I made in some imaginary pen art, like that of here, is to show realism imaginatively despite not possessing a photographic memory. So we can make from our non-austistic mind, views ressembling close to photo, or may be as photos. But on what this is based if not on photographic memory?
Well it is based on techniques. If we are knowledgeable about how to depict reflected light correctly, understand the science of light, ability to show very refined textures, especially in small scale art, well, this shall undoutedly be helpful. The best way to learn art is via learning it very scientifically.
In general, art is not just about mediums, styles/techniques, but also about how our eyes and brain function, artistically. Just like if one train his muscles with bodybuilding, the muscles will become more powerful and resistent, same happens for example in photorealistic art: you adapt more and more with details.
Here is general point also: our brain follows our eager aim. If you wish to make imaginary oil painting of nature, going far in this field, your brain will work on this path. You will progress more in what you innerly desire.
That is why I say that we must give priority to mediums and styles we love most. Still good in trying other ones.
