Description

Meanwhile in the New World, the Republic of Mexico had fought the Mexican Empire in a bloody civil war, that left their country majorly weakened and resulted in the independence of Yucatan as an Empire under Empress Ixal (Hathor) were the Maya rebels now ruled over non Maya Mestizo and Mexicans of Spanish descent. The nearby United States meanwhile had the problem that the growing issue of slavery and with it new statehood membership of states that were pro-Abolitionist and pro-Slavery threatened to break the country apart. After US President Millard Fillmore had attempted to End slavery slowly with suggestions by the Federal government for solutions, the following US President Frankin Pierce tried a different approach, preserving the Union for the Northerners, while also giving into some of the demands and fears of the Southerners. Widely known for the President who prevented an all-out American Civil War, his Kansas-Nebrasca Act stated that each new territory would be allowed to decide for itself it it wished to be pro-slavery or pro-abolitionist, but at the same time both rivaling factions had to stay balance to preserve the Federal Union. As a result the also North-South Act called organic act stated that from now on once they were on pair, new member states could only be formed in pairs, one for the Northerners, one for the Southerners to keep the balance between them, either trough acceptance of new territories as US States, or by dividing higher population states into more new states respectively. It was never a perfect solution, especially disliked in the South which had hoped that after Kansas and Nebraska, the Missouri Compromise line was obsolete, but at the same time the Southerners had hoped that a new line North of Mississippi, now that Kansas and Nebraska were slave states would be drown. That Way Northern California and the territory in between would have become slave states safely and given them the needed majority to cement slavery within the United States for good. The fact that many of these new Slave States, especial in the West, like Arizona and New Mexico were less then dial for any form of slavery and plantation and that no Slave Owner wanted to use their African Slaves as Cowboys or Ranchers, on horses and with a need to be armed, did not deter the Southerners from claiming them as new Slave States.

The major problem for the pro-Slavery Democrats was however would soon fall either to the Democrat Party, or the Constitutional Union Party, away from their Democrat Party and Southern Democrat (Dixiecrat) more radical offspring of it. It was this division that saw the Fall of both Republican and Democrat parties and the rise of the Dixicrats, as well as the Liberal Party (Libertarian Party), the Constitutional Party, the Union Party and the Unity Party (all three split from the Constitutional Union Party), as well as later the Socialist Party of America, the Worker’s Party of America and the Trade Union Party of America (later merging with the Worker’s party into the Labor Party of America). While the Union itself was preserved, it would be divided more then ever internally and individually. While the Dixiecrats dominated the Slavery and State Rights South, the Democrats they had split off from became more of a moderate party between them and the Republicans in the border States and therefore would often coalition with the Constitutional Union Party there and it’s breakaway parties late ron to give them a bigger coalition, either inside the government or opposition to it. This cooperation would later go so far that these parties only ran were they were more popular, dividing the border states between them and not running in ones were one of them had a better chance to win it for their coalition then the rest, so to not divide their voters among one another. So efficient was this coalition and faction between them would hold for decades and centuries to come and become the third/ fourth major player inside the United States behind the Republicans, Liberal Party and the Left-Wing Coalition of the Labor Party of America and the Socialist Party of America. The Independent Kingdom and soon thereafter Empire of Yucatan did not hold any elections and was dominated and ruled by a native Mayan Elite. As it claimed all of British Honduras (Belize), all of Guatemala and some Mexican provinces/ states to the Southwest, it’s relation with it’s neighbors was tense at best.
