Description
An angry girl. I got a drawing tablet for Christmas but I haven't had much time to use it sothis is my first piece of digital art.
Made in MangaStudio 5. No references were used.
I'm still trying out different colouring and shading techniques, I hope you like it! ^^
Happy St. Patrick's Day!! ^^

Thank you so much! ^^
Digital art is fun, but it's very different to traditional!

I know, the switch is hard. It's not as tactile as paper and not as controlled on the broad strokes. But it's much faster. What I do is I do all the outlines and sketches on paper, scan them and then ink them and colour them digitally.

I know, I found it so hard starting out!
I actually find it takes a long time. Although traditional art
also takes a long time XD Sketching doesn't take too long but
inking and colouring takes so long. Hopefully, I'll get faster the more I practice
Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll definitely try that sometime ^^

Colouring is very fast if you have a magic wand tool. You can select a huge, oddly shaped area abd fill it up really quick and easy.

Glad to be of assistance! I'd love some advice of traditional some time if you have a moment, y'know, since you're really talented and all.

Aww thanks ^^ Practice is definitely important. I still have a lot more to learn, too XD
Anything in particular you'd like advice on? ^^

Colouring Pencils.
No matter what I do or how I use them, I can't seem to get a nice consistent base tone down like I can do with standard pencils. It just refuses to spread well. And then even if I can get a layer tone, I find it almost impossible to shade and blend tones together.

Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with exams but I'm finally free now ^^
Hmm...I don't use colouring pencils much, do you mean you don't know
which colours to choose for base colours?
For blending and shading, I usually start with the darkest colours
and go over the base colours, then gradually use lighter colours.
I still have a lot to learn about colouring pencils, though! So I'm sorry if I'm not very helpful >_<

Ah, I see. And don't worry about exams, I know that feeling all too well. And besides, don't think I'll be applying those skills anytime soon. Been off the art for well over 6

It's so great to be finished college and exams for summer, though ^^

6 months. Just no time. I'm self taught, it ain't on my curriculum, I've got 8 subjects to juggle now that 5th year is over and I'm ridiculously out of practice. Even with all summer, I may be able to get back to where I was, but it'll go as soon as school starts again. Matter of fact, I actually haven't even had time to read a book that wasn't part of the curriculum since February, so art is way down on the list of priorities. I dunno, if my DA account didn't keep me in contact with several friends, I'd probably have deactivated it at this point. Artistically speaking, there's no reason for me to be here.

Aw don't say that! I know the leaving cert is hard but you sound like you're working really hard already ^^ Best of luck with 6th year
Make sure you take time out for yourself, whether it's reading or drawing or whatever you enjoy, you need time to relax, too. And don't give up because you haven't had time. There are plenty of times when I feel like that, too. Especially in the last few months since college took up all of my time. But you have to keep trying, you'll definitely get to where you were and further if you keep it up

Thanks for the kind words from someone who's been there, but they're somewhat wasted on the likes of me. I'm not an aspiring artist and wasn't even that good to begin with. I'm just gonna forget this whole period ever happened and just move on to something that I might have a future in using. But thanks for believing in me.
