Instead of coming to some agreement, and of course crawling and begging for more chances, George finally standing up to Spacely, and states how he'd had enough of his boss's bossiness, arrogance and self-pride. If George had thought about doing something else than think about making a living, he would have confronted Spacely and shouting at his boss, finally quits his thankless job.

Sure, it would mean no money for the family to stay afloat, but no business is worth the pressure George went through.

And besides, if you're going to have a family, if family ever comes first, there would be no need for work, otherwise you wouldn't even need a family let alone get married.
