Pops Racer shares Pete's wacky and hot-tempered personality, especially on the count of his son(s). The differences between them are Pops runs an honest business while Pete sales used, and obviously broken-down vehicles. Also, they're both married to mothers, Mom Racer who is a typical, loving, caring, cool-tempered homebody wife, and Peg who while is beautiful, a mother and a estate-agent, is also occasionally loud and somewhat overbearing towards Pete due to his scheming and arrogant behavior. But more to the point, Pops from the first Speed Racer series was very gruff and loud. He didn't approve of Speed's ambition of being a professional racer after the assumed death of his oldest son, Rex.

Goofy: In my experience, driving is as big a responsibility as being a father.
