Description Mufasa, the king of the Pride lands, is the father of Simba. When Simba was a cub, Mufasa taught him about the rules of being king and the Circle of Life. Sometimes, he would play with him, but when trouble starts, he gets serious very quickly. So much so, when Simba deliberately disobeying him and went to an Elephant Graveyard with Nala, he scolded him for putting them both in danger. Of course, he did leave out the part when Zazu was merely killed, but one other important part was that Simba lied and manipulated his mother Sarabi, which would've made him feel even more guilty.

Mufasa: I did what i must to prepare my son for the role of kingship.

Goofy: Well (giggling) that there royal fiddle faddle maybe all important and everything. But remember, he was still just a cub.

Mufasa: That was the problem. That's the whole point. I was teaching him the lessons he must learn before he truly became King. Doesn't mean I never cared for him, especially when I was concerned with his past behavior, and worried for his safety. That is the real act of fatherhood.

Goofy: Fair enough.
