Description Portrait of Count Orlok from the film Nosferatu.

Ink and watercolor.

I dunno about anyone else but I miss the days when vampires were hideous bastards who revolted the shit out of onlookers, carried plague rats around with them, and turned into loaded ashtrays in the sunlight instead of disco balls.

reminds me of the Scarey Stories to Tell in the Dark illustrations. Which still creep me out.

Kinski! The way he's all smudged and dripping actually makes him look more haunting to me. Very nice

really? wow. bram stoker's dracula was the original dracula. that's what nosferatu and most dracula films are based upon. that's where you start your dracula quest.

do you know who klaus kinsky is? he's the vampire actor in nosferatu. how old are you? you'll think i'm ancient. i'm 40! i have long years on a quest for dracula. i went to whitby in england which is where the story takes place, at least after he gets there from his sea voyage. supposedly he's buried at the ruins of an old cathedral at the top of a climb up 100 stair step. it's true! i walked up those stairs with my father, when i was 15!

or did you mean hammer horror? it's a movie company that was called hammer horror and all their movies were made in i dunno, the 1960s. all their films are horror films, actually probably older than that. all the films have the same actors in them and they made a movie about just about every old fashioned horror myths. frankenstein, the mummy, dracula. you should look it up, i bet you'd totally like their melodramatic freaky films.

Ohh no no I know Bram Stoker and Klaus Kinsky and all that. I didn't know what hammer horror is, although I think you're right, that sounds really cool and I'm gonna look that up now

Oh and I'm 18 by the way. I don't know why I'm drawn to old horror and noir, apparently it's kind of strange for someone my age to be into that?

And that would be so awesome to go see the castle! I'm jealous

actually it wasn't a castle, it was the ruins of a church.

you're not too young, i was 15 when my dad and i went there, i was silly, i thought i was going write the screenplay for my version of dracula and so my father took me to whitby to see it all in person.

i've been into horror since i was in junior high. obsessed with it, in fact!

Well I meant not neccessarily that I'm young but I guess it's more that my generation doesn't enjoy classic horror very much. Maybe it's just where I live but everyone I know that says they're into horror like Saw and stuff like that. Personally I don't like much modern horror because they seem to rely on sheer violence and gore for the horror aspect rather than a true, tastefully done horror.

ahhh, i get it. i agree. almost all horror movies made in the last 30 years or so have been all about special effects and are all predictable, and really campy. just tons of women screaming!

i liked "dead ringers" do you know that one? it has jeremey irons playing twins and i won't tell you the rest. it's really disturbing. in a good way!

and i like the hellraiser movies, and carrie and fire starter.

but those really ancient ones are cool
there is one dracula movie that came out in the late 70's or early '80s that starred frank langella. look that up on imdb!

klaus kinsky! i agree completely. i had a little hope when i went to get some bloodwork done and while i waited to be called to the lab, a woman was sitting reading...a beautiful copy--like a real book with paper pages and cool jacket..of bram stoker's version.
