Description
There were a few people that kept asking me for a tutorial, even though I shouldn’t be in a position to give one because I’m not really a professional. And I’m horrible at teaching! But I figured I could try to do the best I can! And I really do hope it helps!
I’m still learning myself! Haha!
I might still do a livestream event to explain how I draw TMNT!
And incase you can't read my hand writing!
And for some reason, I SUCK at writing, I already noticed a few misspellings, or forgotten letters! I apologize!
My mind works really weird.
1. I usually start with a circle, and almost towards the bottom of the circle, I start drawing the cheeks and chin. I also draw a guide line so I can visualize where the face might be.
2. In Red, I start with a quick gester of what kind of expression I might use. Eyes are very important, there are many shapes that can help define the character's emotion. Even though TMNT have no eyebrows, they still have idicated brows that slant up, down, or wrinkle.
- With eyes I usually start with ovals, Disney is a huge influence in my style, and later on, I add sharp defined lines that may look like a triangle, almost.
-Mouths are also another important key to expression! They can consist of curved lines. To help add dimension, you can have the mouth curve the opposite way of the top of the nose.
-With teeth, I picture them as two U's.
3. With the mask, you can see that I visually followed the structure of the head, using downward curves toward the nose, and the top, following the eyeridges to create that "wrapped" effect.
It follows the same rules as the expressions for eyes/eyebrows.
-Don't forget the folds!
(I also add another curve over the mask.)
4. Then this is where I start drawing the finished lines, by darker pencil marks, ink, or black pen on SAI. I add all the details I feel that are needed, then erase the general sketch/guide lines.
~ So that's basically it, for how I draw the head. Practice definitely helps, but patience is the key word, you may struggle now, but if you keep tackling it, learn from mistakes, and try new things, you'll learn how to visual your goals. Developing a style is also another thing to be very patient about, it's like finding out who you are! So keep drawing, study references, take feed back, and enjoy the fun of pushing your creativity and expressing yourself!
GOOD LUCK.
You can do it! Don't give up! Even if people put you down! They don't define you! You do!

I'm joking. I did learn some things about this, usually when I draw I go through the same procedure. Except my art style is chibi.
