Description TP - TP is for blending. I tear them in several pieces and use it. I throw away them often because I don't want to get my finger print smudge on my drawing.

HB 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil - I use only one pencil and one kind of lead. It works for me.

1/8" Stick Eraser - I like this eraser. I use this for hair and skin textures. I often work from mid-tone shades, so I also use this for making lighter shades than mid-tone shades. Before I had this, I used a mechanical pencil eraser.

Tortillion - I don't use this much because I seldom use it for blending. I use this for making skin textures and freckles. It is a drawing tool instead of blending tool for me.

Eraser - I use this for erasing big mistakes. I have a stick eraser, so I don't use this much.

Chestnut - Yum!~~~

Paper

Strathmore or Canson Drawing Paper - I use it for smooth blending. Bristol paper is too smooth for me to blend. I often work on 18" X 24" (45.7cm X 61.0cm) paper.

Watercolor Coldpress Paper - I use it if I want to use its texture for skin texture and et cetera.

Ruler - I use it for making grids. Using grids saves me about 2 hours on sketch (18" X 24"). I don't use grids on small drawings because they don't save much.

Computer - I draw from a computer screen.

Reference Photo - I draw from a photo. The reference photo for this drawing is from .

Music - It makes me draw much longer.

The thing I'm having the most trouble with is the hair. I'm not that great at real-life portraits anyway, but I've gotten much better than I used to be. But I find I only have time to draw in the spring and summer, when I'm not in school and writing and essay or two every week >_>

But yeah, you're amazing ^^

When I was first drawing hair, I focused too much on drawing many thin hair strands and it caused me to ignore whole light and dark shading of hair, making it like a flat cartoon drawing. And then, I tried drawing hair exactly what I see on a photo. It takes so much time and I wasn't patient for finishing that drawing XP
Everyone has different way of drawing hair. Try drawing it in different ways, then you will find one that you like. This is how I draw hair - [link]

Thank you!~~~
