Description
London Underground C stock from 1977, about to depart from Barbican while running on the Circle line back in April 2012. These trains were retired and scrapped just two years later, having been replaced by new S7 stock trains.I was re-watching some episodes of The Tube, a documentary produced for the BBC in the same year that this photo was taken. Was sometimes overcome with nostalgia as I recognized some of the (few) spots that I visited during my four day stay, roaming the network with CJSutcliffe and klambert94 . Our main goal was toΒ take some photos of the venerable A stock trains from the early 60s that were the first in line to be replaced by the new S stock at that time. Unfortunately, this fixation lead to me not really taking any good shots of stuff like these C stock trains, with this photo being the only one that wasn't blurred or obstructed (and it was quite dark at this hour already, so it was a challenge to get an okay-ish shot).
All the way at the other end of the platform, you can also spot an old signal box that was demolished in 2015. Not visible here (but seen on the link) are the two disused tracks to the left of this platform, formerly used by Thameslink until 2009.
