Star Wars, a story about families messing the entire galaxy up with their drama.

Well, according to Lucas, it is a family opera in space.

I wonder what that would be like. If Vitiate found redemption in his new family. Gave up on Galactic Conquest and was content to live in the isolated Empire of Zakuul where his enemies wouldn't have found him for a very long time. And if he had truly learned to love from Senya, showed affection to his sons and nutured Vaylin's talents instead of locking her up.
It could've worked. It could've been beautiful. They could've been a happy family.
...But Vitiate never changes.
I thought after everything he did before the Eternal Saga made me hate him enough, but it's what he DIDN'T do this time that made him even more evil.
Anyways. enough of that, fantastic bloody picture mate.

Indeed. The depths of Vitiate/Valkorion's sociopathy was such that he was even more detached and insane than Palpatine was. If he thought the way Palpatine did, for example, he'd use both of his Empires as one. After extending and exhausting the Sith in fighting the Republic, he'd call on Zakuul for reinforcements and knock out the Republic for good. Then he could declare himself galactic emperor, and reshape the galaxy into an ideal society as a whole. Instead, the Sith were nothing more but disposable tools to him, and he instead wants more power simply for himself, even though he already could transfer his soul from body to body and never be in fear of death ever again.
I remember when I first played in the Beta the Sith Warrior and Inquisitor storylines. How this backstabbing society was all the vision of one powerful man who molded its principles based on his beliefs. What a lie. Zakuul shares none of the backstabbing politics of the Sith, just a new order of Force-sensitive knights who believe in justice. If Vitiate never believed in the Sith code to begin with, why not reform the Sith Empire to be more like Zakuul? It's not like the Dark Council can refuse. After all, the Emperor was the Empire, and everyone from Sith to slaves answer to his will. Why not just merge the two Empires into one and have them follow the same doctrine? It would have made things easier for the Empire to just have Force-sensitives be taught to use their powers for justice and not stabbing each other in the back. Valkorion could have conquered the Republic and forced them and their Jedi to accept his ideas.

While he was indeed emperor of the Sith Empire, it's culture was still too much founded on ancient history, even from before Vitiate. Even as emperor, I don't know if he would have been able to reshape the empire into a Zakuul-like society. It would mean changing the very foundations upon which the empire was built. Besides, it's not like Sith were above bypassing the emperor to impose their own will. Hell, that's the whole story of the Sith Warrior's third chapter, with Baras claiming to be the Emperor's voice. Should Vitiate try to something so drastic, I'm sure the dark council would at least question his decisions, if not actually refuse to obey him.

I think he still could have. The only reason the Sith follow anything is because of power. If someone above them tells them to change things, they will do it or that someone above them will just kill them and find someone else. And if the Dark Council refuses to obey the Emperor, the Emperor will just do what he did when Revan invaded the Sith Empire-he'd just kill them all and find new councilors who are more malleable.
