Description size: 23cm wingspan

This piece was really hard work, but it was worth all those hours! Especially the wings nearly drove me crazy! It's probably the most complicated and biggest piece I've ever done.

Instructions out of: Torsten Becker, Fantasy-Perlentiere (Motive aus Mythologie und Fantasy), Frechverlag

Amazing! The wings look spectacular no wonder it took so long....

Without meaning to be rude....how did you learn this craft? I have been long longing to learn this style of beading but i'll be danged if I can find a book or anything that would teach me? I dont at all mean to steal your work so please dont think that - I simply want to learn how to bead creatures like this. May I be so bold as to ask your advice?

I started beading very early, back when I was a child. With the help of books I taught myself, starting with the easy pieces, moving on to the difficult ones. It kinda seems to me that beading is a german phenomenon, cause I was struggling hard to find a beading group here on DA not talking from english guidlines I'm planning to develop some pieces myself, so I'll propably also publish the instructions^^

Ooooooh that would be cool if you did that! I do beading, but not bead animals (though I have long wanted to) if you do develop your own pieces with instructions that would be brilliant!

Spectacular! No wonder you spent so long on the wings they look amazing! I envy your skill more than I can say!

Ummmm.......this isnt meant to be rude but I asked an artisan on DA and they totally ignored me Im seriously not trying to steal your craft here but I have been DYING to learn this kind of beading technique, how to make creatures and so on.........can you reccomend a book or something I can buy to learn how? Please dont be offended....I so very, very want to learn....I could only dream to make something this wonderful....

No Problem!! I'm not offended at all! Everybody has to start with some guidelines. The book this piece is out of is mentioned in the artist's comments, but I would not recommend it for beginners, because the pieces in there are fairly difficult. Unfortuntaly I can only give you some german guidlines, cause I don't know what you can find on the english market. I myself started with the books of Ingrid Moras. The pieces there are easy to do, but look great all the same. Many thanks for your admiration

Thank you for the info I really appreciate it! I will look up Ingrid Moras. I have seen a few books with 'bead critters' but they seem to be rather flat, clunky looking and rather ugly things and not really what I wanted to learn.

As for the admiration - your work deserves it ^_^
