"No, it's Superwoman!"

lmao okay soo the idea for this drawing actually kinda came out of nowhere??? I have a folder of games and generators saved to my bookmarks, some I got from tumblr, some from friends, some from other places, and one of them was this (Name?) origin generator here: en.seoi.net/yurai/?n= where you put in your name and the letters change to form a different word/origin.

So I put in my/Sheri's name, Sheridan, and it was changed to Superman.
Which had me giggling like an absolute fool.
And thus, this drawing was born.
It's amazing what can inspire you sometimes. I had a lot of fun with this one.

That being said, this drawing is so satisfying to look at and ngl I am so dang proud of myself rn. I played so much with this piece and I had fun adjusting the Superman costume to suit my style/Sheridan. I know that a blue sky with some clouds and birds and a solar flare isnt that impressive of a background but like
As someone who almost never does backgrounds (but is planning on doing more), I poured my heart and soul into that sky/those sun/cloud effects. It may not be huge but it's still a step.
ALSO SHADING OMGGG I THINK I'M FINALLY SETTLING INTO SOME TYPE OF SHADING STYLE GUISE
I originally went for a more "realistic" shading method but it kinda just made her entire costume look darkened out/flat/dull and I wasnt into it so I went ahead and took inspo from vivsiepop because honestly I love how she shades her artwork and erased some "bubbles" into the shadows and also added some random highlights to certain places to make them pop more.
I go back and forth between realistic and cartoony shading all the time bc I'm not sure what my personal shading style is yet (and I'm like...weirdly insecure/self-conscious about it??? Like I feel like people are gonna come for me if my shading style isnt perfectly realistic and logical which is hella dumb but thats just how my anxiety works pfft) and at the end of the day I feel like cartoony might be the way to go for me??? Just like
for the sake of my sanity pfft.
Like for this I used the shadows as more of a contouring tool than as actual, realistic shadows. And then I just used the eraser as like
a way to highlight the most prominent areas??? If that makes sense??
Idk I feel like the makeup terms help explain it somehow. Either way I like it.

Though I will say that I'm not entirely sold on the way her vitiligo looks??? IDK theres just something that looks off to me and I fiddled with it for a long time before I just went and decided to let it alone. I have no idea what it is thats bugging me but whatever. I feel like I would’ve just made it worse if I fiddled with it any more after I got to this point pfft. Maybe I'll return to it and figure out what the deal is once I sleep on it but for now, it is what it is.
I debated for a while whether to go for Human!Sheri with the vitiligo, or Demon Slayer!Sheri with her solid, more olive skintone. But the vitiligo look is kindof iconic for her at this point and I felt like it'd be a little jarring to suddenly post her having solid, tanned skin when I havent exactly drawn her like that since making that canon. It was a little strange for me and I was the one who initiated that change sooo.

Anyway, thats about all I have to say about this one. Hopefully you all enjoy it!
