Hey! That's not a person!
A cute and interesting character commission for a friend who is working on a novel.
These little guys (Time Keepers) live in an organic-like natural clock tower. The organic tower is the pathway between our world and theirs. They decide who is and isnβt allowed into their lands and protect it.
I was iffy getting into this at first because this is the first time I've really ever painted/drew a furred creature or character. But I did a lot of research on different fur types and how it grows and just kept building it up
But the real key to this piece was the glowing gems on the staff, and trying to balance the whole picture out without having them dominate it so much. The purple glow was good for that!

As for the animal, the creator of the character wanted him to look -not of this world-... so we molded in elements of animals such as a beaver, monkey, groundhog, rodent and even a wombat haha

Wonderful painting. The fur is beautifully painted. As well as the wood on his staff. My favorite part perhaps is the way the gems on his staff glow and the purple magic effects.
