This image is produced to satisfy my IAT100 project. That is to create two images in sequence, the first image is meant to be seen before the second one. The theme is self and place.

In both pictures, I purposely coloured some objects in black and white to draw the attention of the viewers to some objects as described below.

In the first picture, I purposely turned off the colours of the markers. The markers which are not in black and white are chosen so that their position mimics radial lines to draw the viewers attention to the artist hand. At the tip of the marker that is held by the artist, there are some radial lines and sparkles to indicate that there is some 'magic' happening. The 'magic' start in the heart of the art to reflect the title: 'ART is heART' because I think to create a good art an artist has to pour his feeling into it. I chose radial symmetry balance to emphasize the relationship of the artist and the art, in this case me and Sun, the character that I drew here (for simplicity, I will refer to her as Sun).

I chose cool gray colour palette for the black and white tone because in the first picture because the art is still in progress, so everything is still 'dead'. No magic has occurred yet. However, the second picture has warm gray colour palette for the black and white tone because the art has come to life.

In the second picture, the markers mimic radial lines for the same purpose of the first picture, that is to draw the viewers attention to the artist's hand. There is a movement from the artist's hand to the newly born art, Sun. I chose horizontal symmetry balance to emphasize the visual centre, that is where Sun's hand holds the artist's finger. I want the viewers to feel the warmth of art and the bond that I have to art. For me, my job as an artist is not only to create art, but also to give life to them. For this purpose, I chose analogous colour palette for both pictures, with brownish yellow colour as a dominant colour and some supporting colours such as red and yellowish-green. This colour palette gives warmer feeling to both pictures.
