Here it is! I spent a lot of time on it (like everyone else XD) until I find everything alright! A lot of days, tweeking lots of details, and I'm just madly in love with it, I truly think it's my best Minkins art so far^^

Signification of the gifts

Skayla and Starlight agreed to bring each one personal gift: Skayla came with a meteorite she found during one of a numerous explorations. Although very boring looking on the outside, one side is cracked and show beautiful purple crystals. Aside from being one of her precious treasure, the gift shows that nobody should judge a book by its cover, and that it's the heart that matter. Starlight's gift is a piece of glass made from lightning hitting the sand. This gift is special to him, because it was what cracked the tough exterior of Nero, the dark Minkin he is trying to befriend. It also is a symbol of his patience, since he had to wait a long time for lightning to create such a gift. He will need patience for fawns and hopes this piece will demonstrate that.

They came with a third gift, something they did together. One gift from each of them, because they have things to teach that the other can't do, and one common gift, because some things can't be given without them being together. This gift is made with materials belonging to all their world shows their patience, hopes, beliefs and love for the maybe upcoming child. The ring wood and leafs are a promise of eternal new life, flowers are there to show their important work of growing back the world. There are several colours of gems that symbolize different personality traits, because although they will come together to raise fawns, they are still two different individuals, and will do their best to pass that along. In the center, the dreamcatcher is made with Skayla and Starlight furs, because the child would be a part of each of them, and there are a lot of holes, because a fawn is far more than just two individuals.

The dreamcatcher isn't just an offering for Ju, it's an offering for the future child too. By being in the Shrine entrance, it's meant to protect the fawns from all the bad things.

What is happening in the picture

After a long travel, Skayla and Starlight finally arrived to the Shrine with their offerings. Ju is watching under the night sky the two Minkins that just showed up this late. Starlight put down is gift on the floor, and took two steps back, watching Ju for any sign of appreciation, overly happy to be there with Skayla and feeling at ease with her near him, happy to have a chance to prove himself and showing his good sides. Skayla on the contrary is all electrified by the fact of being here. After having put down her own gift near to Starlight's one and having hang up the dreamcatcher on a crystal in the entrance of the Shrine, she just exploded of happiness and began to tell Ju all the story of their travel, their gifts, their world, all that went through her head with a lot of mimes, Ju patiently listening to her.

Starlight: I totally love how I draw him! Especially the legs! These past weeks I searched for many deer references and I watch a lot Edelilah and Sai drawing to improve my anatomy, and for once it's not so bad!^^ I chose his expression and pose to be of a Minkin a little shy, tired from the travel, but overly happy!

Skayla: I draw her several time, I were never happy! Head too strange, horrible legs, too short tail.... I was like "I drew Starlight without problem, WHY am I having so much problem for Skayla?" Today I wasn't home and drew some Minkins for fun. It's official: I'm really good at drawing them on paper without problem, but struggle on the computer (that's strange, I draw 90% of the time on computer!!) For her, I chose a more energetic pose, because it's how she is, and she's very happy and excited to be there, and not only for the perspective of trying to have a child: it's not every day that you see a god!^^

Ju: It was a must draw! I never imagined my drawing without him! Ju, the guardian of the Shrine, I love his scale colours, I really wanted to draw him at least once! It was really fun to imagine how it would be when welcoming Minkins coming for fawning^^ I kind of think of him like a paternal figure, old and wise, just watching with a mysterious smile the potential parents coming with offerings.

The background: I chose to do the shrine from one of the reference sheets instead of the one on the weebly, because I find it suited more the drawing I had in mind! I did the background first, so it's a little... little (XD), but I wanted the characters to be big enough, so that's why they're a little oversized in comparison to the shrine. I still find that it gives a mysterious feeling like that^^ I imagine the shrine in the mountain, without lots of plants, away from Crybaby. Of course I chose to do this scene at night, because both our Minkins love stars, it was a must do! I tried to give a night feeling without drawing the picture too dark, on my screen it looks ok, I hope that will be the case for everyone XD I hesitated drawing two full moons for all the significations they bear, but in the end my choice was pure aesthetic: I love crescent moons^^
