- needles/bloodB I O G R A P H Yhistory: An Avalon native, Jacks spent his childhood in Avalon with his very normal family. With a miner dad and a teacher mom, Jacks fit in amongst the other Avalon kids growing up. As a child, Jacks loved reading and exploring the outdoors with his friends. He went through Avalon elementary, middle, and highschool and knows the town like the back of his hand, but even if he was a small town kid, Jacks wanted to go out and explore the world. There was a part of him that always felt like he could do so much more if he left. But he was still grounded in Avalon.

It was a combination of his parents' pressure and small town charm that kept Jacks in one place as long as it did. His parents were good people, and always hoped he would stay in town and live the way they did, simple and content. But still, it only kept him there for so long. Jacks spent a year in Harrison college before finally working up the courage--and the savings--to transfer to a big city university far away from Avalon.

And he hated it. It wasn't because he did badly at university, in fact, he was the top of his class, but because of everything else. Everything moved faster than he expected it to, no one knew anyone like they did back home, there were too many people--it just wasn't what he expected. Jacks was homesick most of the time he was there. All he wanted was to go home.

After receiving his degree and teaching credentials, Jacks came home. Now, he just wants to enjoy the morning air, walk his dog, and wave hi to his students.
