Description
Bros of the /btg/ were bugging me to create a lovechild between an Awesome and Hauptmann mech. Being a fan of both designs, I couldn't hold out forever, here it isAwesomann 95ton Assault Mech
Weapons:
1 LBX20 Auto Cannon
1 Streak Short Range Missile 4
1 Small Laser
3 Medium Lasers
2 ER Particle Projector Cannons
Cigar lasers FTW!

The Hauptmann's spacious OmniMech chassis actually does quite well at out-doing the 9Q Awesome that extra little bit, and also has a bit of room for (slightly) more substantial secondary armaments.
That extra little bit meaning it can hold enough heat sinks to sustain running and gunning the lightning without any overheat at all, something the 9Q doesn't quuuiiiite do.
So, a Hauptmann can conceivably be an Awesomann in spirit.

It's like an oversized Hunchback slapped together with an Awesome.
I like where this is going....

Wow, a stable design, eh? *makes*
Any particulars? Such as how much CASE is used and how many sinks, etc.

There are several different interpretations of it floating around, you can build it up how you like.

I used the version said in the OP and I have to say, it's pretty sexy.

I also used Case II, and a compact gyro to fit the LB-20.

Nice design! But do I get it right? He has LBX20 and PPC in one torso? Does he have some kind of non-Euclidean space compactor in there, or maybe there's some other explanation?)

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Sokil-Su [2013-06-28 00:34:17 +0000 UTC]
It's possible to share weapon crits between parts, so the extra flows into the center torso.

Yep, I remembered King Crab instantly, but that rule is kind of tricky. Still, no objections, the design looks great

I'm not familiar with /btg/; are they a sub-group of /tg/ (like the circle-jerk ME & KS threads on /vg/)?

Yeah, the Battletech General threads on /tg/, we sometimes call it the btg. It's a cool group, we rage over weabos, clans, and cheese builds daily

shame tg means no MechWarrior allowed ;_;

You can talk about it there in the battletech threads, but there's more to BT than mechwarrior, so it doesn't stay the subject for long.

Pity I can't say the same as other people since mine favourite designs are Warhammer(even I don't know why) and Atlas(obvious).

Nice artwork, liking the concept too.
However on the design front, surely the thing that makes an awesome an awesome is it's boatload of PPCs? (Also building that config on a Hauptman comes up half a ton light?)

Shimmering-Sword In reply to NehpetsDnalb [2013-03-29 03:13:16 +0000 UTC]
The Awesome does boat PPCs, but the Hauptmann doesn't, this mixes both.
I only listed tonage, weapons, and in some replies the speed. You can fiddle with armor and equipment to fill weight, CASE for example.

Very nice. I love the design. I wonder what it's speed would be? The Awesome is fast for an assult, and from what I remember, the Hauptman was rather slow. I might be wrong on that last point though... None the less, it looks like a fun mech.

gilbertklanz In reply to storm-bunny [2013-06-22 03:40:12 +0000 UTC]
This may be a month late, but the Awesome is 3/5, just like the Hauptmann. Luckily, you don't need much speed when you are packin' 3 of the longest-range guns in the game. Not to mention the armor and critpacking. It all adds up to one hardy, dependable bitch.

Shimmering-Sword In reply to storm-bunny [2013-03-26 23:51:14 +0000 UTC]
3/5 I think. Not as slow as some other assaults, takes a lot of tonnage to get a 95 tonner moving any faster.

Sorry I don't know Mechwarrior all that well, but when I saw the title I thought "AWS-80", aka "Awesome".
