More Ranger art! Expect a lot of it incoming.Anyone remember the old original of this piece?
The ride of choice for landing Isles Protectorate Ranger forces, this dropship is capable of transporting a combat mech or vehicle, along with a considerable number of infantry or power armor.
It also comes heavily armed, with its massive quad array of particle cannons. These weapons are rarely effective in space due to common anti laser/particle defense fields and dispersion over range, but on land there are more abundant vulnerable targets. Provided air dominance is established, this dropship will often loiter in the combat zone, acting as a support fire gunship to the troops it lands.

Stunning work as per usual Shim, however the tangents between the mech and ship throw me off. Just needs a little more separation or more overlap in my opinion.

I was more worried I might have offended or given unwanted feedback actually. I had an art director once, who was mad keen on spotting tangents and its been drilled into me now.

Most artists suck at receiving crits. I can be a little reactionary at times, but inside I'm usually taking the words in.

Haha, dedicated gunships can be smaller and more maneuverable. But this one is definitely a combination of both, not what a typical fast in fast out dropper would carry for main weapons.

Yeah was about to write myself that those are some big guns for a dropship.
You'd think a dropship would concentrate on the security of its load, speak armor, shielding and maneuveribility to evade incoming fire and other perils.

I have other drop ship designs that focus on a more subtle role, though in the future of coil and railguns, it's fairly hard to evade fire once you come under it, so sometimes a good option is to blow up the threat

The shown ship can haul one of them. There are bigger ships built to carry more vehicles, but I haven't drawn/painted one in a while, though, there is one on my Patreon. That will eventually go on DA.
