Description so long.

I don’t really know what I’m doing…..

well… because Spain was younger, I got this feeling that the way he felt wasn’t exactly like how we think. He might feel that it’s him look like Portugal not Portugal look like him.
And, if we think of the Elric brothers, and how people always though Al was the Fullmetal Alchemist. (well…he was fully metal…Ed only has an arm an a leg metal)

What if people always assume that Portugal was Spain, because..well…they like to make Spain look all cool and mighty and blah, and Antonio was still in his teen and still likes to be a child and all and when people see Port, they would go “Oh, you must be Spain” and then Port would be like “er..no…actually…” And Spain would have to try and act like an empire and stuff. And that would eventually upset him, so when Portugal complain about it, he got mad.
That’s…how.. I guess…

And…. I’ve never tried, but if you grab your pony tail and just cut it where ever the knife land…no way it’ll end too well…. (it might be a very odd edge and all… it probably is straight, but then again I don’t know) It probably won’t end up like Spain’s present hair style if you cut off the pony tail just like that. So I added the last bit.
(and my tiny little headcanon. Port wears a crucifix earring on his right ear, opposite to Lady Port who wears her earring on the left.)

Spain is being moe.

Ufff... Seeing this tonight really made me cry, I'm glad to be less sensitive right now x'D
Even so, I love this very, very, very much. I never thought why Spain cut his ponytail and when I read this, couldn't stop smiling. Spain was only a kid and Portugal... well, he was upset because of people :_D Now I feel like writing a fanfiction about these two.
This strip just became my headcanon <3<3

PS. I love the Portu's earring <3
PS2. I still have your drawing as my wallpaper lol

OH my, I never thought this could make anyone cry.

At first I had a different idea for Spain;s cutting his hair, but I now think this works better. (but hair grows, may be he cut it 2 times lol)

I would love to read your fanfiction sometimes ;_;

oh my...your wallpaper..

Well, yep, I guess he has cut his hair a lot ot times x'D What was your another idea?

... S-Sorry, I've never written a fanfiction in English ;_;U I could try it, but it'd be so fail...

The other idea was something to do with the fall of his power. I was writing some fanfiction about the Hapsburg union. The rise of Spanish Empire and the end of it. Spain cut his hair around this time when he realized how much bad things he had done and he will try not to repeat it. (also how he learned to love Romano, realized his feeling towards Austria, losing Netherlands) I can't remember how much changes happened historically anymore, but it was a step of change he took.

oh...I don't usually write fanfiction in English either XD..

That's a really interesting idea, I like it so much *_* We consider the power went to Spain's head when he was a "powerful empire", yup. In 1898, on losing the war SO PATHETICLY with USA, it's begun the Regeneracionismo in Spain, and the Spanish society start to think in a different way about our "powerful nation".
I think your strip is so much before of XIX century, so both things could really happen :3

Oh, you don't? I thought English was your first language!

Hmmmm..wait a minute now. The war with the USA was short, yes. But let's remember Spain was mostly dealing with LOTS of drama back home: the Carlist War. And he mostly lost because it was mostly a naval war and his ships hadn't been updated. In fact, the Spanish admiral wanted to update the ships at the Canary Islands but his higher ups (dealing with the Carlists) said no so he went to war with bad ships. And most of the Spanish infantry were untrained conscripts but even then...lol...managed to win quite a few lad battles aginst the Americans/Cubans even when the Spaniards were usually GROSSLY outnumbered!

Land battles in Spanish-American War that Spain won: Battle of Las Guasimas, Battle of Tayacoba, Battle of Aguadores, and Battle of Manimani. (They won some naval battles too but the ones they won weren't as important) And now let's look at these statistics, shall we?

Battle of Aguadores- 2,400 American/Cuban regulars, 300 guerillas, 1 cruiser, and 2 gunboats vs a mere 274 Spanish soldiers. Result? 2 American/Cubans dead and 10 wounded vs No Spanish casualties!

And even in battles claimed as American/Cuban victories, the Spanish dealt more casualties. Like the Battles of El Caney and the "famous" San Juan Hill.

Battle of El Caney-6,653 American/Cuban infantry, and 1,000 guerrillas vs 514 Spanish infantry and 10 irregulars. Result? 81 Americans dead and 360 wounded and 150 Cuban dead and wounded vs 38 Spanish dead, 138 wounded, and 130 captured!

Battle of San Juan Hill-15,000 American/Cuban infantry, 4,000 guerrillas, 12 field guns, and 4 Gatling guns vs a mere 800 Spanish infantry and 5 Krupp guns. Result? 2,000 American/Cuban dead and 1,180 wounded vs 600 Spanish dead, 170 wounded, and 39 captured!!!

So yeah...it's VERY clear the Spaniards are quite badass when it comes to battle! Spain IS quite powerful! But sometimes obsolete technology and incompetent bosses get in the way. Yet still...for a bunch of untrained conscripts to be so thouroughly outnumbered and outgunned, yet inflict THAT kind of devastating damage to the Americans (who had help from the Cubans) is QUITE the feat!

Lesson: No one should EVER underestimate Spain!

This is so cute! The only thing was that I was confused as to who was who in the beginning, although that's not really bad since that was the whole point. Love the ending!

I knoooow...I should still at least be able to make them distinguishable. Actually, Portugal has his scar across his left eye. (Though I did keep them on their side of the frame. Portugal is always on the left and Spain's on the right. They never crossed to the other side.)
