Same here, the nearest cinema around here is about 90 miles away so I don't get to see them unless they come out on dvd. The animated movie and shorts are the best part of the awards, I agree.

Oh wow your "nearest" theater is so far away!! :< But that's okay; you save lots of money for not buying theater tickets because they're usually really expensive. I actually prefer seeing movies at home and I usually only go to theaters to hangout with friends (there isn't much to do where I live except eat, shop, and go to the movies).

Seeing movies at home is pretty great if you're alone. just lay on the couch, eat popcorn, a cup of hot chocolate and that's my heaven.

I haven't seen Spirit yet! I hear it's a great movie with beautiful animation but I'm not a big horse fan so I think that's why I don't feel as motivated to watch it orz I do plan to watch it eventually!

I actually went on a childhood cartoons splurge a few years ago and rewatched Digimon seasons 2 & 3 (for some reason season 1 didn't appeal to me as much as 2 and 3 did), Danny Phantom, American Dragon, and Kim Possible. I never finished the latter two but hopefully I'll find some time soon ^^

Ahhh I totally know what you mean--I only watch a few shows like NCIS, Hawaii Five-O, The Amazing Race, etc. since the majority of shows nowadays are just trash :< There's one channel that shows really old tv shows from when my parents were growing up (The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, Bewitched, etc.) and shows back then used to be so wholesome. It's a shame that media has evolved to be much more perverted and racy >___< The commercials can be pretty bad too and I'm shocked at how much gets approved to be aired on tv...

Morale in tv has gone down a lot, I agree. I wanted to watch a series called The Vikings but it I was disappointed on how focus they were on mature stuff. I wonder if we'll ever go back to wholesome stuff and this all turns out just to be a fad.

Ahh I don't think I have HBO since I don't have cable but once in a while I do see some commercials advertising for shows that are cable-only. And I totally agree--there are so many shows that have really interesting concepts and stuff but then I don't want to watch them because they also put a lot of focus on more mature content :< I think it's really sad because the younger generations have to grow up watching this kind of stuff instead of the more wholesome stuff that I watched when I was a kid and it can really influence the way that they act and think. I mean, I'm still in complete shock that two 12-year olds would try to kill their classmate just because they wanted to please Slenderman and I feel like this stuff wouldn't be happening if it weren't for the kind of media these days... There was even a case at a university in my city where a male student tried to sexually assault a female student because he was trying to roleplay scenes from the movie 50 Shades of Grey UGH. Idk, I don't understand people who claim that media has no influence on people's behavior :/
And yeah, hopefully this is all a fad and that people will eventually wake up to reality and realize that a huge way to bring positive change is to change the way media presents practically everything. >__< wow didn't mean for this to turn into a mini rant, sorry...

Rant all you need, it's healthy to let it out. It is scary to hear about that stuff! How you can be so influenced by a game you stab someone over it makes me shudder! What goes through their minds! The media is out of control and has a huge influence over what we do. I hate how girls are influenced on how to look, skinny and barbie like. I honestly don't like to wear make up but it seems everyone has to wear that because all the models on TV. DA is honestly becoming a bit too much for me with all the mature stuff on the front pages. But I just have to remember there's beautiful artists on here too. Sigh....

Ahh I know what you mean--over the summer I was in the beauty department looking for some nail polish since I'm a nail polish junkie and there was this group of girls who looked like they were maybe 6th grade-ish and they were all talking about different kinds of makeups they have already tried and it's really sad that girls at that age already feel the need to wear makeup. Idk, I've never worn makeup and never felt the need to and I hate how society and media tell us that we need to wear makeup to look nice :< One of the things that pisses me off most is seeing videos for "getting that natural no-makeup-look!" and it's a makeup tutorial >___>
And yeah, dA is getting out of hand with the more mature stuff always making the front page simply because it's eyecandy. It's disgusting to see even on forum threads where people ask how they could gain more exposure/watchers/etc. and there is always at least one reply that suggests "post nudes" or NSFW art UGH
I just don't understand why the world is getting more and more corrupted by the day and I wish things would go back to being wholesome like in the past but it's like a neverending vicious cycle because younger generations will be exposed to how the world currently is and it really affects/influences them growing up and then they pass those ideas to the next generation and so forth :/
I only hope that for the many of us who strive to make the world a better place, that our positivity and efforts would be contagious and really open people's eyes to how bad our reality has become and inspire others to do the same.

Our positivity is spreadable. It sometimes just takes a while to do so, and eventually most people have to grow up sooner or later. I just hope its more of on our own rather than taking some huge disaster thing to do so.
