Jól í Latabæ display imageReleased in 2001 as a sort of 'listen-along' story album, Jól í Latabæ (Christmas in LazyTown) featured equal parts narration and holiday tunes —Some that would go on to find their way into the television version production, and a few others that certainly should have. Songs like Glanni's (Robbie Rotten) sorrowful, ‘Aleinn um jólin’.
All alone on Christmas Eve, a freezing Robbie leaves his lair and can't quite help but notice all of the warmth and festivities going on at the Mayor’s house. As he insist the rejection doesn't matter and that he's alright being by himself, Sportacus feels otherwise that no one --not even Glanni Glæpur-- should be alone on Christmas. To date, it is the only lone example of a duet done between the two of them.

i have that "alone at christmas" song already, and it's just so (beautifully) sad! i was a little shocked (in a good way) the first time i that heard it... like "WOW, this is from lazytown?" it's the only one i've got from the christmas cd, but i'm sure that it is the best of the bunch anyways... because Stefan's voice is just really AMAZING on it.

Yeah. It really isn't the song that you think you would hear coming out of Lazytown --- I guess that's why it inspired me so. I don't believe I was aiming for 'happy' when I drew Robbie in this one. I wanted something that suggested thought and being content.

Thanks. I actually 'did' have it drawn up first in my traditional method that's been seen so much in the SC, but I really wanted something more cute and unique to itself so I ended up with this.

Aside from that and any principals of general respect, I also –out of habit-- just don’t care to do what I see as ‘bandwagon’ subjects. For example, I avoided MegatronXStarscream slash like the fragg’in plague on the account that everyone and their nieces were either writing or drawing about it. It was blasted everywhere! When I write or draw I enjoy the sense that I’m doing something that isn’t so commonplace and right now there’s just a smorgasbord of SportaRobbie floating around.
