Happy Halloween everybody!!!!

And like most times I finished the next installment of my annual Doghouse of Horror before the spooky holiday ends!

Here is the last entry I submitted last scary year!

It appears that after twelve installments of this schlockfest...the TUFF residents have finally revolted against their buxom host Lady Malmsteen and are determined to end this marathon once and for all. So they tie her to a stake and put all the film canisters of all the Doghouse of Horror films (including this years) and intend to burn her like a witch. Lady Malmsteen of course looks on in shock. Who knew Dudley, Kitty, Keswick and Tammy could act like angry villagers during the witch trial days of yore? Is this really the end of Doghouse of Horror as we know it!

No of course not. This is just a morbidly tongue-in-cheek take on the yearly title cards I apply to these things. This is also a parody of the poster for 'Elvira Mistress of the Dark' whom Lady Malmsteen is dressed as.

I bet a certain vamp fox agent swooped in and saved her anyway!!

"Boy those villagers really can burn you up...." Lady Malmsteen's morbid sense of humor! She's taking it in stride; even though they're doing this on her birthday of all days! :V

Anyways: onto the first story.

It wouldn't be an endless parade of horror story parodies without referencing iconic horror movie icons. I've done animal takes on Michael Myers before, and more recently Jason Vorhees. (Michael Micers and Jason Boarhees.)

So here's another iconic horror slasher villain to be introduced: an animal take on Freddy Kreuger. Only this time it's an alter ego of the Counting Cougar we call The Kounting Kreuger! Now why didn't I go with the more obvious Freddy Cougar? Well....that was done already. The original Tiny Toons covered that side gag when Plucky rented a bunch of horror movies while spending the night at Buster Bunny's house. (Ah those were the days....) And one of the horror movies he was watching featured a feline parody of Freddy Kreuger: Eddy Cougar.

In this particular parody Kitty Katswell is investigating the heinous actions of Counting Cougars alter ego in a community of elks. (Hence the name Nightmare on Elk Street.) It all comes down to a showdown between the two clawed felines. I got admit; I don't know whether or not Kounting Kreuger has the ability to enter dreams. In fact most of these parodies of slasher villains I've done are pretty standard and are more or less mildly humorous animal takes on the iconic characters. Some gag huh? :V Maybe I should just stop while I'm ahead...

Wait we got two more stories to go.

The second story is a more morbid take on the Wacky Races cartoon. It's Wacky Death Races. As mentioned it parodies the Wacky Races cartoon. But it also parodies grindhouse film classic Death Race 2000. Basically combining the two where the contestants rather than lose races or get inured cartoon style...actually get killed. So unfortunately this is indeed a Death Race to the finish where contestants get eliminated. I know; that's not really what the movie Death Race 2000 was about. (I mostly remember that film for the pedestrians getting killed.) But here it really is about eliminating the racers: Last Man Standing. Or cat or dog in this case. But there is more than just the classic cat and dog duo of Kitty and Dudley here. There is another cat and dog duo more or less parodying the infamous Dick Dastardly and Muttley of Wacky Races: Dirk Deadly the cat and Murder Mutt the dog! They appear to be driving a kind of dog mech trying to take out Kitty and Dudley. Kitty is dressed as Penelope Pitstop ((also from Wacky Races) and upon doing research I'm actually pretty surprised how somewhat similar the two characters outfits are. Only the helmet and scarf combo on Penelope and the colors are drastically different. Kitty also has her car fashioned after Penelope's. But Dudley apparently forgets what cartoon parody he is in; and just assumes this is exactly like Mario Kart. He's dressed as Mario even though he has the letter D on his cap for his first name. (So Dario then??) And of course he's driving that iconic Mario go cart. Yes the series has tons of vehicles to choose from; but the Mario go cart is just too iconic!! BTW: It is explained why Kitty and Dudley are in this suicidal race to begin with. As usual it's because Dudley wasn't thinking. This is the last time The Chief has him sign up TUFF for their annual weekend 'Team Building Retreat'

The last story really features some side characters who only appeared very briefly in a few episodes or even one. Schoolhouse Rot (a parody of the title Schoolhouse Rock) features minor rabbit character Ms. Hopper. Here she stars as the teacher in charge of a group of school children who are about to be dismissed for the day.....until a zombie apocalypse happens out of nowhere. Oh swell....it was like the very first school day of the week too. Not only do you have your grades to worry about; but also zombies. Trapped in the school Ms. Hopper is trying to get the children to safety as the zombies break in. She then slowly finds out the children are pretty apt at keeping the undead at bay. And their leader is none other than.....The Little Chipmunk girl. Yes that annoying freckled little rodent actually is the backbone of this group of survivors. Not only have I made her more vengeful over the years; but also hardened and pretty dangerous. She's supposed to be wretchedly adorable; but in my stories she's dropping that schtick all together!! Ms. Hopper is amazed these children can fight the zombies. And she finds out how in the memorable line. Everything children (including adult children) learned in life they learned from video games! It's a good thing rather than doing Ms. Hopper's homework they were too busy playing 'Claw of Duty: Zombie Edition!'

So that's this year's Doghouse of Horror. I wonder if I'm running low on steam here. I really wonder if I will continue doing this every year for the rest of my life or until I am no longer able to do art.

Will I reach a point where there are more Doghouse of Horrors than Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors? Whatta trip that would be!!

Well until then; see you next year for Doghouse of Horror XIII....Appropriate considering we just had Friday the 13th this year when I introduced Jason Boarhees...who will have his special next year as well. ;D
