St. Patrick's Day is upon us. And for most everyone who associates this holiday with something; the color green usually comes to mind.

And it seems the show Steven Universe is seeing more and more fan art popping up recently. And as of recent episodes like 'Warp Tour'; the green gem Peridot finally made her introduction. Means a bit to me since Peridot is my birthstone.
Of course it's not the birthstone associated with March; it's August. But the color green figures heavily with St. Patrick's Day so there you go.

Also, as I foresaw it would happen....when I made my own version of Peridot way before the episode aired I knew the eventual character they came up with would be nothing like the vision I had. Which I'm totally fine with. Peridot when they introduced her officially on the show was a cool calculated research type. Not really evil, but seemingly overly dedicated to her work which sometimes poses her as a threat.

The Peridot I had some time ago was a more serene caring and protective gem, in that it goes with the stone's attributes in that it is seen as a stone for protection. Of course being overly protective to a fault is one of her negative aspects too.

In this case taking one of the show's Peridot's tiny robots that broke. Normally it seems she would step on it once it is rendered useless. But it looks as if my own concept stepped in and caressing it like someone finding a wounded animal and gently rubbing it to try and heal or revive it.

She doesn't take kindly to Peridot's Machiavellian approach to dealing with seemingly sentient technology. And the show's Peridot doesn't take kindly to the other's seemingly overprotective nature. To her, it seems illogical someone would care for a broken little Robonoid when it really isn't a living organic creature.

I think this is why I never continued much with my own version since I knew they would eventually introduce the canon version eventually: which they did. And the show's version is really cool in terms of personality and design. I like the Mega Man like legs in particular.
I understand that another birthstone associated with August is the Sardonyx. Of course someone else came up with their own version of the gem; and that one hasn't been introduced yet. it's more of an earth toned stone; so I'd have to change my Peridot drastically as her cool green matched her design intentionally.

Guess this is the unique case in terms of Steven Universe OCs; eventually someone's version of their birthstone will probably be introduced in the official canon, looking nothing at all like their design which is fine. XD
And different in personality too.
