I like crossovers, Megaman X and Sengoku Basara. So this happened.
Basically, this is a design of what Axl would look like in Basara, imho.

Sengoku Basara = Capcom’s Sengoku-era themed hack-and-slash game. It violates a huge portion of history, but who cares? It’s awesome. And wacky. And stylish.

About the design:
> The only armour besides the braces on his arms and legs is a chestplate, because he moves around a lot. Rolling and jumping. The rolling especially, so he can’t carry a lot of weight. So the robe isn’t so long either, it doesn’t swish much, and no collars like the average jinbaori (General’s war coat).
> No helmets too. Unlike MMX helmets, Sengoku-era helmets are clunky and noisy. It’s not gonna be convenient for rolling.
> I always imagined Axl to be the pseudo-ninja type, occasionally deployed on stealth missions, so it’s only natural if he’s got small weapons in his pockets. Or knows gun-fu.

Shading and background inspired by Silent Hill 4: The Room.
Looks gorgeous!

Now, I dunno if he's supposed to be human in SB. The farthest Basara could get is Tadakatsu, but when did Basara have limits anyway?
Scratch that, I've decided he should be a kitsune. Because I swear, the only things that make him unique gameplay-wise is his copy ability (And MMXCM's Stealth Mode. Well, he shares it with Spider, but Spidey dies later in the game so.....), he won't be complete without them.
Why did I pick a kitsune? At first, I was divided between picking a kitsune or tanuki. But a kitsune can turn invisible, so it's decided. And there's a saying that "the fox has seven disguises, the tanuki has eight (狐七化け、狸八化け)", it fits because in X7 and X8, Axl's copy ability is limited, unlike the New-Gens, so.....
Also, "Physically, kitsune are noted for having as many as nine tails.[10] Generally, a greater number of tails indicates an older and more powerful fox; in fact, some folktales say that a fox will only grow additional tails after it has lived 100 years.[11] One, five, seven, and nine tails are the most common numbers in folk stories.[12] When a kitsune gains its ninth tail, its fur becomes white or gold." it fits even more because White Axl (X8). And White Axl is more powerful than normal Axl.

Suddenly I just realized that his hair looks like a red fox's tail. The red fox is the species commonly associated with the kitsune, so I kjsdfhskjdhfdf.
