Description
A second illustration produced on commission for the Computer Arts Projects typography issue, which came out today. In style it had to follow my first picture 'Type', although I was allowed to stray further from the style of 'Pimp' in terms of colours and layout. I also had to leave a large space in the bottom right for text and include certain typographical elements, like the keyboard, typewriter and stencils. Again I worked to a very short deadline and although the lettering may look very similar to that in 'Type' nothing is actually recycled from it. Anyway it looks nice in the mag so I'm pleased with the result, the colours bothered me for a while but I prefer them to the first picture now.Double A4 @ 300 dpi original size.

They were done in Xara, then tweaked in PS.

Hmm well I would just say practice a lot with Photoshop and you will get good. If you know Flash and Illustrator then PS isn't really too different, it shares quite a few of the same tools as Illustrator anyway. A render is generally any image outputted by a 3D program, so you either need to get hold of some 3D software and learn how to use it or get some from people who already do know.

Saw this on the typography issue, before I saw it here and I knew it was you. You've got a great style brotha. I take it whoever commissioned you for this really liked the PIMP piece you did.

Yeah they basically asked for a straight redesign, which is what 'Type' is. I was allowed to play around a little more with this pic.

Hehe thanks, I wouldn't really classify it as vector myself, there's just too much non-vector stuff in there!

Fucking A, pardon my French.
Sir, you are. A God. Of colour and composition.
I've come across your work before and I was as amazed then as I am now. In fact, more amazed, at this present day.
The flow is just beautiful. The details are so exquisite and alluring that in fact it's the viewer's eyes that beg for more.
What I love most is the white, decorative trail from the "t" in "type", and how it flows and connects effortlessly with the characters that follow.
The floral is gorgeous. It's quite amazing how they complete the composition, and yet they don't add the least bit clutter.
I also love the nice touch with the typewriter, and how the keys match the palette.
This is just so... juicy.
My mind is in a state of boner-dom.
Thank you for sharing this :)
