Description
I've wanted to do an isometric picture for ages, and to try something light and colourful. I feel like I need to do some incredibly violent picture now to get this out of my system...Some detail shots available here:

The cake is a lie.
Looks good, can't wait for your violent picture though, always liked those more.

Yeah me too but getting good source photos is so hard for that sort of stuff.

But that's the art of creating a violent picture, right? Taking an ordinary one and turning it into something else. I mean, would you have guessed in my picture overthinking the exploding head is a frozen strawberry getting shot?...

I like getting some nice gory details in though, and for nothing looks better than real shots of... gore! I've found some ok ones in the past but only at relatively low resolution

You're right, it's all about the little details! I stumbled upon some gory images at iStockPhoto and Fotolia before, if you want to spend money on stock photos that is. But I'm pretty sure you could create those gory details yourself if you'd just mess around a little, try a few things, maybe find tutorials.

I only pay for stock photos, free stock just isn't up to scratch or available large enough most of the time. I reckon I could create the details myself, but it would take longer and not look as good as photos. I need something like Resurgere's heart photos but at much larger size.

Unfortunately so. I only pay for stock photos at the job, my private work is mostly done with free stocks. I don't want to know how long it took to find the right pictures for my New York City retouching Quarantine ... must've been hours. Oh boy, Resurgere's heart photos sounds like a tough find - good luck with that! Can't wait to see what kind of gory picture you'll come up with.

Yeah that looks like some serious comping work, the initial photo itself is great though. Always nice to start off with a good shot. I know that in the past I have searched through maybe 10,000 photos plus to find a single good shot... I really hate photo searching.

Oh glad you like the initial photo, a comment on the retouching or the trailer would have been nice though...
Ohh tell me about it, I hate it as well. Especially when you're looking for a photo that seems easy to find, and then you're scanning page for page in Fotolia and iStockPhoto and nothing comes up! And when you finally find the perfect shot it's either too small or for editorial use only or too damn expensive... or all of it combined, hehe.

Beautiful work.
And incredible details of the cakes.
I haven't understood completely if they are 3d or 2d.
Colours are really smooth like if they were done with vectors, but lights and depth are really given well, so i think it's a 3d. Dunno.
Stunning job Nick, well done!

3D! and a lot of work on the shaders to make them as smooth.
