Here it is, the pokemon who inspired the challenge. And our first notable milestone in gen 3.

Normal
The whole concept of one of the weakest pokemon ever evolving into one of the strongest ever was always such a cool idea to base a pokemon on. It makes raising a common Magikarp somewhat tedious (at least in early generations, where there's no EXP share for all pokemon and stuff), but rewarding. And your reward is a fearsome looking, cool and powerful water/dra- er, actually, water/flying type pokemon! (why is it not a dragon? >-> You end up with an awesome Gyarados! ...WhomI'vemistakenlybeencallingGarydosforembarassinglylongtimebutlet'snottalkaboutthat.

Shiny
So by now, the most of you know that the Gyarados at the Lake of rage was my biggest inspiration for this challenge. It gave me this cool idea I've then decided to go along with. But, Shiny Gyarados isn't cool just because of that. It should be noted that it's also one of my all time favourite shiny pokemon. I absolutely love the red colour on it, and it was so cool to get it for free! Altho, fun fact, I also shiny hunted and caught a wild shiny Gyarados once. Yesterday, actually, in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. What timing ^^
