Maybe you could do a fanfic where some of the MLP characters actually go to where Spirit lives and having adventures with him and Rain.

Hmmm. I'm not really into Spirit. I did like the movie when I was a kid, but I'm not sure I'd be that interested in doing a fanfic about him.
