Also if memory serves Robbie, not very fast over land. Number 5 can reach decent running speed on ground (approximately 30mph) while remaining 100% function, due to the gimble style body that helps compensate.
Also Number 5 can performed limited self repairs if he can find the right materials.
In Short Circuit 2 he trades the lazer for a plasma cutter & hangglider.... not as dangerous, but still i think he could pull it off.

I presume it's Johnny from the 1st film.
Which means he wins.... that nuclear powered lazar has been shown an effective weapon with great range and precision, and it assumable like his brothers he favours aiming for seems & joints.

But remember I count all of the version of Robby to be canon including the one where he can temporarily disable a robot from the future with a single blast.

my robbie memory is a lil fuzzy, what was the range & targeting on that blast?
could Johnny avoid or hide from it?
also did he do it more than once? or is it a really taxing trick for robbie?
We know for a fact that Johnny has little EM shielding, so if was an EM Blast, he screwed.
(though argument could be made that he survived a lightening strike, but it was resisted by powerlines several transformers, wasn't a direct strike)

I won't like, I'm 1 of the few people who still likes Johnny 5.
I mean even from the stand point of them using physical props it a good film.

I hate cgi, I will always prefer practical effects, to me cgi exist to make practical effects better, it like wax to a wood craving great at smoothing the edges out but as it self they look awful.

Jurrasic Park 1 is a good example of CGI & Practical effects used together well. (probably reaching the limit of how much CGI can be used before uncanny valley sets in)
I mean the effects are still reasonable even now.
And that film is over 20 years old.

yeah meanwhile you can tell a film from two year have bad cgi, again the wax.
I hate when they give millions to hacks to care more about the common market then good movies, I know there will always be times when cgi is have to be used, but that doesn't mean practical effects should be push to the sidelines.

oh well, the world we live in.
I still think Transformers as a concept had great potential.
Millions of years old cross universal cival war, with various political and personal views jockying.
Even with the monopoloar Good V Evil factions, they often touched on in mainstream & loads more in expanded universe (which im only dimmly aware of) the subtle derivations with in that and perspective of good and evil, characters switching sides. or becoming or ceasing to be objective observers or pacifists.
Heck thats without including the factions added by planets outside of cybertron.
Earth
Junk
Nebulos
Paradron
Quintessor
(to name but a few)
And also not mentioning the broader mythology and semi-religion aspects.... Primus, Primacron, Unicron, Quitesson Reign of Cybertron, The Matrix, Sparks... etc.
In todays world it even more explorable, transhumanism is growing ever nearer.... so cybernetics, cloning and neural interfacing (touched on in shows and comics) are now a lot less speculative.
So humans aint far away from conceavably making robots that could match up or surpass Cybertronians.
Heck you could do any story it so versatile. I mean "La Miserables" on cybertron is well with in possibilities.

Heck it used to be a cleaver based for possible gender related ideas.
In the original 80s transformer
Decepticon's where primarily gender neutral.... they was decended from war machines, which had no real need for gender diferential.
Autobots however had female members, as they was decended from Consumer goods, eg construction and servants... Logically some customers would request effeminate Servants. maids rather than butlers out of personal preference.
So for a long time transformers were gender neutral. You could have Masculine bots with "feminine" personality or Feminie bots with a "masculine" personality.
Was only later on genders became more defined.
Especially as the primary form of reproduction did not function like humans requiring sex etc.
Later on it was shown that some female bots have clearly defined female parts.... but it could still be argued that they are simply specialised as nurse maids for protoforms & the protective maternal personality was appropriate.

Bay treated the Transformers as an Action Franchise.
Transformers is Sci-fi first action second.
Heck you can tell a good transformers story (i heard mention of some) without being action orientated.
Heck most the famous moments in TF are character based not action based.
like 1986 prime's cinematic death, or 1987 his zombification.
Heck there is a whole episode dedicated primarily to First Aid reconciling his medical ethics & pascifist beliefs with his being a vital part of Defensor who's main roll is fighting.
