This is a reference sheet to my very first Toad Patrol original character.

There is a new upcoming summer collaboration in our Toad Patrol group . Since this year we are going to make art focused on our own original characters, everybody who wants to join and had not designed their own character yet, is first supposed to create one and submit a reference sheet. And that includes me as well.

Name: Periwinkle

Species: Young toadlet

Age: 1 season old (the same age as the Toad Patrol)

Sex and gender: Female

Height: A little taller than the youngest members of Toad Patrol (Panther Cap, Slippery Jack and Oyster), but shorter than the rest (Puff Ball, Shaggy Mane, Elf Cup, Beauty Stem, Fur Foot).

Colour scheme:

The skin and the cheeks are of the same colour as the main Toad Patrol characters'.

The eyes, however, are brown in colour, unlike those of canon characters, whose eyes are all blue.

The hair is light brown and waist-long, with a bunch of tiny white flowers growing out of the skin of head, and covers one of her eyes.

The outfit consists of a long-sleeved overall which is coloured in shades of green, turquoise and blue, with a white belt.

Alignment: Good

Friends: the Toad Patrol (Fur Foot, Beauty Stem, Elf Cup, Shaggy Mane, Puff Ball, Oyster, Slippery Jack, Panther Cap), Earth Star, Outsider

Tool: "The Shade", as it is called by its owner, is an umbrella made of leaves and sticks. It was given to Periwinkle by the Outsider, by whom it had also been enchanted. As a result, despite its small size when not being used, it can magically expand and cover up to 12 young toadlets when needed. The tool is used as a protection against sun (for Periwinkle) and rain (for others), and can also be used as a form of transport on water.

Personality: Introverted, unsociable, timid, quiet, fearful, pessimistic, careful, thoughtful, caring, kind, sensitive, responsible, nerdy, easily tired, no sense of humour, meticulous, anxious.

Loves: Her close friends, infodumping, peace and quiet, being alone, rainy weather, animals, staying clean and tidy, sleeping.

Hates: Arguments and fights, intolerance, rudeness, cruelty, wild adventures, danger, risks, noise, sunny and hot weather.

Afraid of: Insects and arachnids, beasts, deep water, heights, the dark, losing her loved ones or her loved ones suffering.

I really enjoyed designing this character, but I admit that I based her entire personality and even appearance on myself. That is why I see her also as sort of a toadsona...

The part I struggled the most with was the name. I am well aware that almost every toad character in Toad Patrol carries a name after a species of fungi (Fur Foot, Elf Cup, Shaggy Mane, Puff Ball, Slippery Jack, Panther Cap, Earth Star and Penny Bun are all names of mushrooms), except for Beauty Stem, Oyster and Mistle Toad. I was worried whether it would be alright if my character was not named after a mushroom, and even though it probably would have been best, after all my indecisiveness I finally chose to stick to the name which I liked the most from what came to my mind - Periwinkle. Periwinkle is a name of a flower (Vinca minor), which is, despite being a plant and not a fungus, still a term strongly related to nature. What I mean to say is, I just hope this is not too much of a problem...
