Yaaaaay! I'm alive! That's a good thing, right? Right?I'm sure you're all sooo happy to see I'm alive and posting again. I'm sorry it took so long for this one. It was supposed to have been done in February for my mom's birthday but school and life got in the way. I only finished it a month and a half to two months ago and it still took me this long to post it.
Ah well, c'est la vie.This was done on eighteen count cloth, my first one ever, and I thought I would go blind. I honestly questioned my sanity after I started this but my current project is giving me soooo much more trouble. That's the only hint you're getting by the way; you'll get to see it when it's done. Just note that it may take me equally as long to finish it and that's working on it nearly constantly but I hope it's worth it and you all enjoy seeing it.
I want to take this time to say a quick thank you to all of you who have supported me over the years and even more recently. It really means a lot to me. Thank you.

Yeah I entered my frist one with the last on-Celebration and I didn't win. But it was a fun experience hoping I might. I was completely confused on what I had to do, but the one's that ran it were very patient with me and explain how to submit and all so that was a bonus that will lead me to enter another depending on what it is. i'm having a hate relationship with my 18 count project at the moment o.O Just finding it difficult to work with for some reason where as the one i've just started is on 22 count and it's going much smoother... even though i do end up cross eyed rather a lot trying to focus on the small holes, lol

Lol yes my eyes would start killing me after a while. I haven't tried 22 count yet. I don't think I'm quite that ambitious as of right now but I might try something a like that down the road. I don't know what it is with eighteen count that makes it a pain. Must be some sort of in between stage.

i think with mine the problem is that...
0.5, my eyesight isn't the best (lol, remembered after typing 1-3)
1, the aida isn't really all that good, seems to catch with the fabric a lot for some reason.
2, i've never learned how to control myself with the amount of colors i use so my needle has to fight through them when i'm switching over a lot. Β Which leads to the main problem...
3, i think i was using the wrong size needle. Β Mostly i just grab a needle out of a kit, find one that feels right and then just use it for everything. Β Somewhere along the line i think i picked up one that was just a little too big, great for 14 and 16, not so good for 18. Β Right, thanks to someone on dA, now i'm using the smallest size... #28 i think it is. It's much narrower and slips through all the already tight packed holes.
PS, i can't think who it was that put it in a comment but i agree with them... you really should think about entering this in the spring contest

I do the same thing with the needles and I know what you mean about the colors getting a little out of hand sometimes. I actually need to find some more needles because all the ones I have are too big. Yes I know who you're talking about and one of the admins contacted me about whether or not I wanted them to submit it to the contest and I told them yes.

I've contemplated making this one as well but I let it slide at the time for other projects. Seeing your finished piece does make it itch once more!
I think you have done a great job at this lovely cat; especially if you aren't used to the fabric count! 18 count is really small but it makes your work look so much more refined somehow. It's nice to see you make such an adorable come back - pretty sure the fact it took you a while to post it is long forgiven by the cross stitch goddesses! -

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! It is very satisfying to see it finished and be able to present it to my mom. It was also funny to see some of my newer friends' reactions while I was working on it since they'd never seen me do it before. You should start working on it! I would love to see it!
18 count does make it look a lot smoother so I'm going to have to start working with it more often. I also hope this next project is up to everyone's standards.
