I got to pet the one in this photo while it was cupped in someone's hands. Otherwise, we ourselves were forbidden to pick them up (It was at a county fair). If the lady in charge hadn't cupped one in her hands, the chicks were running around so quickly that we couldn't pet one at all.

Oh interesting. Yeah at our state fair we aren't allowed to touch any of the birds... and amazingly, people are actually respectful of that! I believe there is a place where you might be able to touch them but that's only if you're interested in buying them.
