My husband's cousin lives in LA... He just shared a picture on FB of this same duck today!

Thanks for sharing! That's so cool! Was he on a boat? Because everything else on that side is water. It's great that he got the "Port of Los Angeles" sign on there.

We actually had one here - some artist created it and put it in the harbour! Β I remember seeing on the news that it had deflated one night and was just a yellow mat on the water! Β It was pretty sad really!

That's cool. Did it look like the one here? I've heard that there are actually a few versions of this gigantic duck, so if it looked the same, it could be the same artist.
That's too bad that your version deflated, but as long as it wasn't vandalized and happened naturally it's okay. I heard that when this duck was in Berlin, some vandals stabbed it around 47 times. I was like "Really? It's a cute duck meant to spread smiles around the world and you're going to do something like that? That's so messed up."

Yes it was identical! Β I think you're right - the artist was German or Austrian or something like that - they interviewed him on the news!
As far as I know it wasn't vandalised but that's so sad that the one in Berlin was and yeah you're right Tricia - why does some knob have to spoil something so fun and uplifting?

Hehe. I figured. There aren't exactly a whole lot of ducks the size of sailboats floating around out there!
Yes, the artist is Dutch and his name is Florentijn Hofman.
I guess it can't be helped. There are a lot of bad people out there. I recently saw a photo of the duck deflated (It looks quite funny actually. It looks like it melted.) and that was my first thought...someone vandalized it, but I read in the comments that it's going to be inflated again. I know it's moving down the California coast, so they're probably deflating it and reinflating it at its new location.
Anyway, if you want to see the photo of the "melted" duck, here's a link:Β www.facebook.com/EyeOnLA/photoβ¦

Lol - yeah I was thinking the same thing!
That'll be him!
Oh o.k - the poor duck must feel a bit 'deflated' for sure! Β I don't know what ever happened to the one that we had here - I hope it didn't end up in the trash!
Oh wow thanks for that Tricia!

Lol! Thanks! Yeah, I think you'd have to find an Olympic size pool for it.
