Description
MORE HOMEWORK!?Yes! more homework, from a halloween flavored assignment in my intro to illustration class. We were assigned the imaginary task of designing street banners for the city of minneapolis, springboarding from a shakespearian quote ripe with spooky undertones and chills. For our choosing we had two from Macbeth, and one that was just labeled "shakespear".
I picked the one about all stuff going into a "hellbroth" from Macbeth, and thus the thumbnails began a flurry of sorcery and crazy looking witches twisting sinuously around a cauldron and what have you. Some involved the cauldron chasing the ingredients, which were delightfully silly.
That said, I honestly have no idea how the hell this idea happened.
A lot of the thumbnails, like i said, had to do with the witches tossing monsterous creatures into the witchpot. But then i had a few with the nanimals in cages and stuff.. so i guess from there the cages became the interior of a pantry.. in an unassuming grandma kitchen.. with an apparently unassuming grandma.. with a very scary secret... O O
DONT EAT THOSE COOKIES, UNASSUMING GRANDKIDS!!
Tools-
colored pencil, lineart
adobe photoshop 7.0, base colors
open canas 4+ - massive amounts of detail and overpainting

Awesomely wonderful! Scary and sad and just downright chilling.

oh my god!!
Sooooooooooo beautiful!! (I don't care if she's an unnasuming evil grandma, I love it all!). I feel sorry for the animals inside the cupboard, though ;_; They seem to be crying! Oh, the glossiness of the eyes! Intant Fav!!!
Oh, I wish I could learn to color that way ;_; Not good art schools anywhere near where I live. I would have to change countries *cires heartbrokenly* May I ask, where are you studying? *sniff*
*snatches art away and hangs it in the wall to stare at it forever*

Gorgeous! Just absolutely amazing! The old woman is fantastic, she reminds me of Grandma Sophie from Howls Moving Castle. I loved how when I looked at the full view of this picture and scrolled down the elements in the picture kept getting more suspicious and disconcerting. Poor Grandkids.

That is really WOW!
There's some confuse with where the animals looking. Lizard is scared of cat, Owl wonders at lizard, Dog deplore over lizard's destiny and Snake is just amazed of how dog's teeth XD Only Rat is desperately want some help from the dog and the snake and that is quite expected
Cat's tail morphed into frying pan handle
I love how bottle became misted from rat's breath

heeheehee X D;;;. it was goofy, its actually based on a short story i wrote with my sister about witches throwing a potluck. the pot in that story continuously stomps off the fire because it's too hot, and it yells and breaks things as it bumps into them. (its not very smart..)
but the witchpot in the thumbnails for this project was enourmous and crashing through some haunted forests. perhaps one day i'll have to visit this idea more closely X D;;

that. is cool. that is a really super neat image. ... thats really cool... i feel horrible for the animals. they're so scared!! the tears ;;!!! that spider freaked me out at first because i didn't see it till i scrolled back up to the top of the picture XD!!! hahaha. love the grandmas face, really well drawn... and scheming... way to make a grandmas face scheming... thats a feat in and of itself. the subtle hat and broom with the black cat is an awesome touch as well. ^^!! ;; that little rats face is ... holy crap. petrified.
i cant get over it... i even love the colors you used... the dark purple cabinet pulled into the animals... the bright looking cheery almost perfect 50's looking kitchen... and i have no idea where the neon green light is coming from but i like it... shes a witch right? fits perfect.
Love it. wonderful job.
