They say the greatest power is one that never ends. Now my question goes somewhere along the lines of this: If she wants to find food for her changeling minions (And I use that term loosely), which just so happens to be love and positive emotions, then why does she want to invade Canterlot and take it captive, which would result in negative emotional energies. It just seems counterproductive if you ask me, and on top of that, why would she drain all the energy out of some poor victim, making them a husk, when she could slowly drain energy and get a constant supply that doesn't stem easily.

I have to ask, would you make someone a husk and drain all their energy, or would you treat them as a generator, using a demand/supply system when you have need of food or extra energy? Logically speaking, of course.

But if you get lotsa power from one source, then why not just drain at a rate that keeps them alive and healthy, yet nets you a lot of energy (Which can be stored and used at a later time for uber-powerful magic or long-term attack spells)
And if your heart is as cold as stone, then I should be able to break it all the same.

And how is it that I don't believe that? Oh wait, that's right. Sentience gives rise to emotions, and love is an emotion, so all sentient entities need emotion.
Besides, who needs power? It's just another way to cause pain, quite the opposite of what you use to gain power.
The way I see it, power should only be used to maintain peace in which love can flourish, giving you vast amounts of power. And no love is quite as strong as feeling it mutually in a bond that spans time.
