Description
Attempting some traditional animation, using my old friends tracing paper and pencil - TAKE 2.This is practice for my upcoming project for my final year at University, involving a dragon (hopefully). This is a VERY sketchy idea of what I'm heading for, i'll hopefully be colouring the dragon in Photoshop and the background in watercolour in the end. Possibly, the next stage to test.
This will be something relating to the opening scene before the dragon (un-named at the mo' ) begins to fly around and all that. YAWN TIME!
(C) Me and all that.

what program did you use to put it all together? I've been wanting to do traditional animation but i have no idea what programs are good

Oh groovy, my first technical query.
Let me just remember, as I'm using different programmes now.
This is probably the most simple of formats to create animation in, I recommend it to start out with
First of all I drew all the frames out on tracing paper, then I scanned each one in and placed them frame-by-frame into Flash8. Be careful when you're placing them though, as if they are not centred properly the character jumps around all over the place. To help this I use the "onion skin" tool to make the frame transparent, therefore I can see where to place them
I think that's pretty much it to be honest, I think a few frames were editted in photoshop7, but thats all really.
Hope that helps

Some very fluid animation
Curse you and your fantastic multi medium artistic skills ....er...i mean
Seriously...i envy you, because you seem to almost instantly master any medium you try your hand at
You are so talented your picture should be next to talent in the dictionary....

Awww shucks!
It was not an overnight experience unfortunately, I've spent many years just messing with several different techniques and then going back to those which i feel comfortable with. Plus, I still need to tackle digital colouring *DUN DUN DUN*
Thankyou muchly, as always!

looks awesome. you've really gotten to grips with this traditional animation thing. as for a name i am quite partial to something arthurian. maybe arthur. also trogdor works (for the strongbad fans out there)

Heh reminds me of a line from Titan A.E.
"You can't call a planet Bob"
Hmm... Rip, Rend and Roar....name of a threeheaded dragon from death trap dungeon i think....always kinda liked Rip and Rend...
Maybe i should ask a friend of mine who speaks Draconic about some names.

Now that's looking good - shows stage by stage artisticness. You're going to make something kick ass at the end of the line.

You don't have to try too hard, even a scrap piece has me in awe seeing as I think anyone attemping animation is very brave as it can be hard and tedious work.
If you keep working hard at it, I'm sure you can create something smooth flowing and beautiful to look at!
