Description
HIT DOWNLOAD TO SEE THE ORIGINAL SIZE.NOTE: I AM NOT DOING A FULL TUTORIAL HERE. I'm just telling you how I do things. If you are confused about something I'm talking about feel free to ask without begging for explanation as to what photoshop does, otherwise there are plenty of actual photoshop tutorials out there. This process review is laid out assuming some knowledge of photoshop already.
Up top there you can just see what happens when you mess with the paper texture colors after painting. It changes the paint colors too >8
So anyway...
Here is a prime example WHY one should always plan their art ahead. That first part there, with the designs on his hands, I lightboxed overtop the original drawing and just drew designy things. Then scanned and lined them up on top of his hands, painted some tone in his hands, then inverted the linework and tinted it with hue/saturation, then overlayed.
Well... I didn't like it.
So I nixed that, and did ANOTHER drawing, lightbox and all, which you can see right next door there lol XD Then, I decided to erase out the design I did in his fingers a second time. Did the same thing to the original linework decoration, invert-> tone the whites and this time put the layer on color dodge.
Well after all that, I decided it needed some more to it, so added to the original drawing and scanned it in again. I didn't track my progress too much here considering how much fail happened. But at least at the bottom there you can see the drawing inverted, and me colorizing the added to (right) version to match the older one (left).
To colorize the white like that, I like to use the hue/saturation tool with colorize ON. I haven't really figured out another way to do it, but I'm sure it's out there. If the tones don't work for you, once it's colorized it's easy to mess with it in selective color.
So there you have some epic fail
Here we end the magical process overview.
I hope this is a satisfactory explanation...
What? Where's the final you say?
Well you'll see that tomorrow ;D For now I'll let you guys digest my insanity, LOL.
I hope this was at least somewhat comprehensible to some of you 8'D If not then well.... ask me to explain myself. LOL.
