Description
Started on this one yesterday as part of a series of pictures for a digital art computer magazine submission. It shows the three brothers of the samurai.
They were framed and found guilty of a crime against their Lord, which they ofcourse never committed.
Facing death, they fled as they saw no honor in dying for something they did not do.
But the Soldiers of the Lord managed to track them down and in one last fight, the three brothers drew their swords...
Painted over two days, several layers, reference used for parts of the samurai armor such as shape, not detail.
Image is sizereduced alot.
Photoshop and wacom tablet.

Is there another way out of a situation like this that does not involve bloodshed?
Or is this the only way out?

Wow. Great dynamics and emotion....
They really remind me of Raymond Feist's Tsurani warriors, who wore brightly coloured hardened wooden armour....

Very good but I find a problem with the middle samurai. He's far more blurry then the blue one behind him which causes you to view him cross-eyed like because the depth perception is off and causes your attention to be attracted to him instead of the foreground samurai. Might want to fix that if you can.

Thank You for the feedback.
I bet this image has tons of "flaws" in it, but
it was painted a while back when I did not
actively plan my images...those were the days,
when one did not have to think actively about
stuff such as composition, colors, contrasts..ahh

Shockbolt, this is cool as hell, I don't see anything wrong with the arms on the middle samurai either, everything is great, excellent!

I like the sense of depth in the figures, and nice detail on the armor. The background could use a bit more value contrast.

Thanks for the feedback.
I did not want the background to stand out as much in this one, that's why it is not so outstanding as in any other illustration I've made. It was mainly painted to suit a character painting of the one samurai in the foreground.

an absolutly stunning depiction of samurai, you captured everything from their physical details to the very raw emotion they displayed on the battle field. a very fine piece of work

very cool. I like how the first dude is *watching* me - he's got them follow you round the room eyes.

Yes, he is watching. Moving my screen from side to side and he still looks like he is looking right at me.
It's like he is after the viewers blood.

Very cool dude, the focus and blur you integrated really works well for this piece.

the overall feel of everything is so emotionally charged its great, and rare in many ways for someone to capture that.
Also the background was very well done in the sense that it is very integral to the work yet it is almost as though it does not exist, giving full attention to the warriors.

this is looking mighty good man.
the thing i find weird, is the arms of the middle samurai.
they are bot parallel to the head. ( gah i'm bad at explaining. I find it hard to pose with arms like that. doesn't fall natural )

i know what your trying to say... it looks like there just going a little to far back for someone wearing all that armor.
