INCREDIBLE. I've just recently fell back in love with this series and I've been running around dA trying to find good Splatterhouse artwork, and this has GOT to be the best thing I've seen.
You did a fantastic job, man! The redesigned mask still evokes the same "Jasonesque" vibe as the original, but I'm EXTREMELY digging the skull look as it breathes originality and "horror" into a concept as simple as a "hockey mask".
I also like that he's not "hyper pumped", and looks more believable- almost "wrestler-esque", rather than "unbelievable superhero" like in the game or in previous fan art I've seen.
INCREDIBLE work. I know people get offended when their work is compared to another artist, so please forgive me if my doing so offends- but this piece is like Arthur Suydam with a Ben Templesmith vibe.

Thanks a lot! That's kinda how I always envisioned the character. I always hated the hockey mask, I figured it looked that way because of graphic limitations, even though the box artwork always depicted it that way, I still thought it needed to be more evil looking. I had my own idea of the mask bonding to the skull when he wore it and becoming flesh and bone at the same time. This is kind of a "movie interpretation" of how I pictured the character. I think we're gonna do some more, maybe based on various parts of the games.
What's funny is that I digitally "pumped up" Mike in the pic and was worried he looked too big, but I guess not. I think the new game looks cool, but he is a little too monstrous for me, I just pictured him as a just really big guy instead, but whatever, I'll still play it.
As for the comparisons, I appreciate it. We're pretty big fans of both.

Yeah; the new game has him hardcore-hulking out... I don't mind it if it's the mask doing that to him(like in Splatterhouse 3), but as a default it's a little "superhero-ish" and not really "horror-ish". Still is nice to have Splatterhouse back; I don't own any of these fancy Next-Gen's though XD.
It's a brilliant approach, your mask. I would definitely love to see more Splatterhouse work from you! You're extremely good at what you do.

Thanks. Yeah, I think it's just the mask doing that. As for the game, I don't own any new systems either, I'll just have to play it on my friends. I'm pretty much just an old school gamer now...
