Description The Xian Commune needed a new tank, but keeping to their military traditions if a system and a competing system showed promise and worked- they'd adopt both. This wasn't cheap, but by allowing two (or more) large factories to churn out gear with most subsystems shared the industry would not wane with retirements of old equipment.

The three nations had their own tanks, but post Unification War- and post Human Alliance a new tank was needed. Two companies competed, and both won. Direct Combat Armored Platforms shared the same weapons, but differed in their layouts.

Primary Gun Complex: Two 125mm and two 115mm guns, mounted in a rotating mounting allowing for loading and firing four rounds, with doctrine using the 125mm for AP, and the 115 for smoke or HE if needed. One could fire alternating gun calibers if needed- or use one set of guns as the other was loading.

With a maximum rate of fire of some 20 rounds a min- ammo would run out rather quickly. The solution was to not run it at max rpm unless the situation called for it.

"Direct Combat Armored Platform A had its crew in the hull, and used a low profile turret for its main gimmick. While Direct Combat Armored Platform A had its crew in the large turret, using a similar system to the MBT-70 from our ancient history." - Textbook, 2270.
