Description
Follow me on Facebook: [link]I got sick of cleaning and packing, so I decided to finish this off. I've been working on it for a few days now and put a LOT of hours into it.
I suppose I'm driven by the fact that people think I'm good enough to ask this of, and that I know that someone had to teach it to me. In some cases, I had to figure it out for myself then go about the lovely process of verifying it.
The file is 6 MB as the images in it are LARGE.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Most people think about it like an egg. And roughly it is, only with guys, the jawbone kinda throws that idea off.

Thanks so much for this. And thanks for the little bit on symmetry. I've often tried to make faces look more symmetrical, only to find that I dont like how it looks. You've made a very good point. And introduced me to who could quite possibly be the hottest man in existence. I thank you for that as well. XD

Not bad! Your poses are dynamic, which a lot of artists typically avoid when they aren't confident with their ability. Many artists fill their galleries with lots of very static positions and blank expressions. So good on you for getting creative!
Also, the way you do male chests also shows a lot of attention to detail.
What I would suggest is watch your hand proportions. Best way I have for referencing hand size, is actually placing your hand on your face. Mine goes from chin to just over the eyebrow arch. That should give you a good reference as, you know, most pictures include faces. I reference for hand size all the time.
Personally, I hate hands. Stupid hands! Stupid bloody difficult hands!
Let me know if you ever have any questions. I'll see what I can do to help out.

Thank you so much. That means alot.I too suck at drawing hands so annoying,-eyeroll- hahahaha!!I'm gonna try your suggestion and see how that works too.Now I lllooooove drawing my men shirtless(drools). I better be careful,I might fall in love with my creations, hahahahaha. And thank you again for your input.

ShonnaTheWhite In reply to hottottielala [2011-04-21 15:14:44 +0000 UTC]
Hands are typically well known for being the hardest part of the human body to draw. So don't feel bad.
I know what you mean about lovin' your characters. I love my Storm and Michael and ShadowCrafter. MmMmmmMmmm. Its hard not to love your characters when you get to design them with all the stuff you love about guys. In my case, three dynamically different characters but soooo much to love between them. *SIGH*
And no problem. This world doesn't work without people willing to help each other out and waaaaay too many people forget that.

I thought front views were 5 eyes wide. Unless it's half on one side, half the other for the '5th' eye view?

ShonnaTheWhite In reply to DryBonesReborn [2011-01-22 04:10:43 +0000 UTC]
In a way, you are right.
There are two schools of thought on this particular topic. One of them is that the face is 4 eyes wide, the other is 5. It can really be either and everywhere in between.
In the type of art that I do, the face is on the narrower end of the spectrum. 5 eye widths would be a good measurement for someone with a wider, rounder face, a more masculine look.
A 5 eye measurement would start with the first eye being the space from the inner corner of the eye to the other inner corner of th eeye, where the bridge of the nose is. The next eye lengths over would be the eyes themselves. Following that would be from the outter edge of the eye to the edge of the head/face.
Good on you for asking about it!

YW. I think I faved the tutorial.
Just some people can get a bit testy with 5 eye rule. I just never heard of the 4 eye one. But it still could be 5 eyes wide the one half of the head and then the other

ShonnaTheWhite In reply to DryBonesReborn [2011-01-22 21:22:44 +0000 UTC]
People like to get testy about the silliest things. The human face varies quite significantly and everyone's idea of beauty is different. It's best to take everything youre told as a guideline and not as an absolute.

bahahahahh well i was getting so frustered about my male drawings (really, i cant draw men for craps) and this cheered me up so much (mainly cus your hilarious) but its so true, i worry about symmetry wayyy too much and this is a nice reminder to just go with it.
