Description
So I'm just laying it on with the old stuff- this is almost exactly a year old, drawn for a training exercise at work. Colin and I had to design robots and then model each other's resulting concept, so I made an incubation robot. Naturally.-C

The belly is clear... does that mean we can see inside?
Perfect for scientific research!

MAAAN I remember seeing this ages ago and I had no idea who did it and I was all like HEY THAT IS AMAZING BECAUSE I AM PREGNANT AND I WISH I WAS A ROBOT THAT COULD EJECT MY BABY INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH LABOUR. awesome.

I like the contrast of blue lights and orange blisters.
And that big front collar plate thing looks cool.

Wow, a totally new spin on testube babies. I love it, and sadly can see it happening in the near future.

This is a very beautiful and elegant design! But the purpose is a little creepy lol. Robots carrying babies. But I can see it happening in the distant future xD

I wish robots could have kids for us. Just insert egg and sperm and tada! Wait for baby baking.

Is this like a 'Surrogate Mother' type robot? That is so frickin AWESOME! The design is quite elegant and unlike anything I've seen before.

Love the sleek design on this... not to mention the idea of it is really cool and almost kinda creepy! (Though I'm sure those who can't have kids would certainly appreciate a robot like this.)
Also dig the motion lines of the turquoise light as it turns it's head. Very nice work.

So excellent! Love the glows on the background. Although I have to ask, why are its arms so unarticulated if it has to handle something so fragile?

It's job is to incubate, not to care for the child itself- I assume it has long graceful limbs to allow for smooth movement, but not much else.

All the subtle yet important variations you paint of light and shadow still impress the hell out of me. I can't help but compare it in my mind to James Gurney's studies. And then I get all envious.

Jeez, thanks! That's one hell of a compliment- Gurney's work is mind-boggling inimitable.

Awesome! Use of shapes in this is astounding to commit to the design! The blocky stable shapes compliment the robot aspect, while the egg and rounded shapes provided a wonderful contrast to life, and sort of motherly association. Well done!
