Sometimes you forget that the deadline for Project Rooftopβs Storm redesign contest is at 2pm your time and you find yourself frantically designing something during your lunch break. I canβt tell if the reduced timeline was actually better for my design or not, but WHATEVER SUBMITTED IT no turning back nowI went for an Egyptian bent to 1. reflect her backstory of living in Egypt, and 2. c'mon guys I love Egypt, you should know this. It was fun trying to use some of the more recognizable motifs while still maintaining a modern style/silhouette.

oh, I remember seeing this on the Project Rooftop page when the results for the contest were released! It was one of my favorites, but somehow I never made the connection that it was drawn by the same artist who does the Historically Accurate Disney princesses series, haha. IT MAKES SENSE how did I not see it...Β
Anyway, I'm kind of boggled to learn that this was a rush job done during a lunch break! Holy cow. I love this (I really love when people remember Ororo's origins in Cairo) so I'm kind of curious as to what you would have come up with if you hadn't been rushing!Β
PS, I always associate Storm with KILLER BOOTS whenever I think of her costumes or uniforms over the years, so I think her bare feet in this are super cute, haha. She's such a nature child, this kind of makes more sense than the hooker boots (lmao) she's often drawn in.Β

Actually, isn't Ororo's crown a holdover from the Sun Disk Crown of Hathor? (Originally, but I think the idea's been diluted from a zillion years of redesigns.)

Every time I check my inbox, this picture hooks me, snags me, and reels me back in to stare at it some more. Β A fantastic combination of Egyptian-inspired clothing and my favorite X-person--bold, beautiful, deceptively simple. Β Everything about her suggests power.

I'm in love. Ororo and her Egyptian influence is something that I always wanted to be more explored in the comics. i'm already working on a cosplay of her otherwise I would have loved to try this design!

I was dissapointed I didn't find time to have a go a redesigning storm, she's one of my fav characters but ah well, some other time perhaps - for a last minute concept though this looks great, I hope you place well in the competition!
