I usually despise science fiction (with the exception of AC, but even then I'm not a fan of the sci-fi). And if you even think about bringing aliens into a story, I'll usually dismiss it. Sure, I'll give it a try, but I've never really liked science fiction books/shows/movies/etc at all...

SO WHY CAN'T I STOP WATCHING DOCTOR WHO?! THIS SHOW

I'm not going to lie and say I was blown away with the first episode I watched. In fact, I hated the first episode I watched. I didn't get it, and it seemed like another cheesy science fiction show... but goodness, I gave it another shot if only because many people have suggested that I watch it... and then I watched another episode... and another... and then I watched one whole season. IT'S JUST SO INTERESTING. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY I CAN EXPLAIN IT.

So far I've only watched the episodes with the 11th Doctor (with the exception of that first episode I watched with the 9th)... and Matt Smith gaaah so endearing. Nonetheless, it's a very entertaining show
